BGP QOTD: What stadiums have you attended/played a high school game in?

Recommended Posts

It sits on the same footprint but it's not the same stadium. When Durrett High School closed the bleachers were moved to Southern and the light standards taken down. The school building spent several years as an office building. When Male relocated there a brand new stadium was built.

Thanks for reminding me, I also attended multiple games at Maxwell Field which was behind the old Male HS in downtown Louisville.

Did you ever go to Bishop David's field.....or did they play at someone's else's field? Maybe you're not old enough to have been involved in games with Bishop David.

The final game of my senior season in high school was a playoff loss to Bishop David played at the Fairgrounds. I don’t think they had their own field as it seems to me I remember the 1st game played at Holy Cross. Not sure where they played home games?

I didn't know Moeller played games at their home stadium. I thought Lockland was their home field.

I played in a scrimmage in grade school that was at their home field! They also played there on senior day last year, which was the first time they had a true home game.

Total: 88

States: Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas

Most Unique Venue: Hobson Grove Park (Warren East)

Almost no schools on the list East of 1-75 or north of Louisville. Mostly WKY and Louisville area...Should be able to add five venues to the list in 2018. I enjoyed the thought I had to give to answering this question. It provoked a good trip down memory lane.

I’ll just list my two favorite places for coaching.....

1. Hank Evans/ Ivan McGlone Field in FLATWOODS v. The Russell Red Devils.

2. Putnam Stadium..... especially with the OLD visitor’s locker room. Ashland Tomcats.

Hope I can coach a game in each before I die. Love those places. I love a great opponent and have huge respect for the Red Devils & Tomcats!

Also love the home of the Bluebirds....David Cecil. Hot July for 7 on 7 or in the snow the day after Thanksgiving. Great memories. Another stadium that would be great to coach in at least one more time!
