September 8, 20179 yr This is what the Candian/GDPS is showing. Remember earlier in the week it was showing Irma going in the Gulf of Mexico. Now it is good agreement with the GFS and NAM models. According to this image Irma is about to screw Florida?

September 8, 20179 yr Be safe my friend. Thank you. I'm home. I'm really worried about people in FL, though. Our hotel has opened itself up to evacuees. It's a 200+/night hotel and they are giving evacuees a 49/night rate. Employees are able to stay for free. They are preparing as well to be emergency shelter. At about 2:45 am, the line for check in ar Delta was about 100. By 3:45, about 600. Some people had no tickets. One lady with her mother, weeks old baby and a cat had fled Miami for Orlando, then took the only flight from there they could find. It was going to Cleveland. For the 5:30 am flight there were 21 on standby. There was a little old couple in wheelchairs on standby. I was sitting on the plane struggling with my conscience about not letting them have my seat, when they eventually were accommodated. There was a young couple I encountered who had no tickets, but we're going to just keep trying to find tickets to anywhere on any airline. And then this doozy of a lady. She is from the Villages area. She was leaving to go on an Alaskan cruise. She didn't want to cancel because she would lose her money. So, she left her 15 year old daughter at home with a friend. She was concerned she may lose some trees, because a friend years ago she had lost 9 trees.

If I lived there I would do my best to get out but if I couldn't I'd find a good strong building to hold up in. Most likely they will be fine. She was as strong as any hurricane ever when she went through the Caribbean and only 15 or so were killed ( hate saying only but I hope you get my point). By the time she hits FL it will likely be a Cat 3. As long as you are safe from the surge and flooding a good strong building should be fine to protect you against the wind. It's people like the older couple you talk about that breaks my heart. Their family probably lives far away and makes you wonder if they have any secure to go. Probably safer to just hang out in the airport until it's over if they can't get out.
September 8, 20179 yr I wish we humans possessed the technology to Quash a major weather system. Isn't there a movie coming out that involves that?
September 8, 20179 yr Isn't there a movie coming out that involves that? No idea but it is only a matter of time.
