WKU Student Govn't: Black Students Should Get Free Tuition As Slavery Reparation

Featured Replies

I know it was a joke, or at least I was hoping it was. Regardless, slavery isn't an easy subject to joke about, and I think you missed the funny zone this time.

I didn't miss any funny zone.

If you can't have an UNserious attitude and be able to joke about things that are dumb then nothing will ever be accomplished. I make fun of things I think are stupid. Slavery was stupid.

If only slavery was merely stupid.

Slavery was evil.

I didn't miss any funny zone.

Slavery was more than stupid...it is the basis of the racial issues and tensions we still experience today. And sorry, a "joke" comparing you doing a few chores as a kid with the horrible experience of slavery isn't even close to funny. It has nothing to do with me being unable to be "unserious". Jokes like that do nothing to help ease tensions or advance relations. Roll that joke out in a room full of people who's ancestors experienced slavery and see how many laughs you get.

If it does, I have posted a photo that will be an integral part of my WKU application.

I forgot about that movie.

PP92 . You feel you do deserve reparations for slavery ?

Free tuition is stupid but that maybe why they did this. Its such a far fetched idea that they themselves knew before they passed the resolution that it would draw attention to the point they wanted to make knowing all to well that it actually happening had zero chance.

It was a joke, it was funny and he wasn't making fun of slavery but instead was making fun of how ridiculous the WKU reparations nonsense is. Lighten up Francis...:thumb:

Alright...if you don't understand my point, no sense trying to explain it further. Moving on.

Who feels that they deserve reparations for slavery? Or that anyone does?

I would guess that group is very small.

Yes. I definitely do. However I do understand the argument against reparations for slavery and I'm not an angry black man over not getting those reparations. It's not a big deal and it will never happen but yes, I do feel that every black family in America deserves reparations.

Like what do you think would be a fair deal to give people?

How much or what for each person?

Does it always continue? Say a deal is done, do future kids also get this?

I don't know about reparations. But God had an interesting plan in the Bible.

I could see a Biblical view of the notion that all persons property be returned to them and all slaves indentured are freed. Might that be a Biblical precept for the discussion?
