January 22, 20179 yr For me, I make it a point to learn about sports that I don't understand. I played football up through high school but always had my mind boggled by rugby, and then once I made it a point to learn about rugby, lo and behold I started playing on a club team in college. I learned about cricket, and I came to love it. Same with short-track cycling. I guess I would say that I certainly don't understand the fascination with hockey. Figure skating and gymnastics, though, those are judged athletic events. Not sports. I don't like those two.
January 22, 20179 yr I remember the days of ESPN covering Aussie Football, those dudes were tough. That was some great TV, I would rather watch that during the day then one of the yelling back and forth shows.
January 22, 20179 yr Cricket has always been a mystery. Definitely a sport built by 19th century British leisure class. Only they could come up with something so Byzantine that takes weeks to play all the way through.
January 22, 20179 yr Cricket for me, but Jai-Alai is a great answer too. I've bet on Jai-Alai in Dania (FL) many times, and remain completely befuddled.

January 22, 20179 yr I've tried numerous times to figure out cricket. Games can last literally days, and you can hit the ball in any direction? Jai-alai is fun to watch bc of the speed. Curling ranks number two. I'm not sure what the heck is going on The number one for me is polo. I don't get it. Seems pretty easy to score.
January 22, 20179 yr There are a lot of sports, like several listed above, that I don't understand and I really am not interested in learning more about them. But here is a something I don't understand about soccer - why don't teams take more shots? These really good pro teams sit there and pass the ball around the perimeter acting like two of the other team's players are going to fall down at some point and give them a clear shot at the goal. It seems like if they just fired the ball in front of the net like happens on corner kicks and looked for headers and rebounds they would score goals off of some of those opportunities. Why not more shots?
