January 22, 20179 yr So you've tried to watch a few times and you're lost. You don't quite get what's going on. Is there a sport that that you need to study up on before you try to watch again? For me, it's curling. I've watched a few times and I just don't get it. It kinda reminds me of a combination of that shuffleboard that old folks like Oldog75 play and housework. I know that players do an awfully lot of sweeping with brooms on that ice. Also, I've watched a little cricket. They're obviously trying to play something like a baseball game but the pitchers are bowlers and good fastball is a yorker and a bad batter is a walking wicket. I haven't a clue.... The game seemingly can go on for days. Are there sports that confound you??? Edited January 22, 20179 yr by Science Friction

I would add Rugby and Aussie-Rules FB to this list. But I could watch both of them and not care because it's great action.
January 22, 20179 yr Author Fencing seems like it's simple enough. Two people are trying to stab each other, preferably in the heart. Maybe I've oversimplified it. I don't know how many points wins the match or if the the one who gets stabbed the most in a certain length time loses.
January 22, 20179 yr Hockey and soccer. I understand when the puck or ball goes in the net that it's a score but that's as far as my knowledge of the games goes. Both are boring as heck to watch, for me anyway, but I suppose a lot of that is me not understanding what's happening.

I've tried watching , but as I implied above, an icing call always sends me to the refrigerator so I gain wait watching hockey. I've had people tell me that it's a blast to watch live. As for soccer, I usually only watch during the world cup. I get all excited and crap, especially during USA games, but I still don't know what in the hell is going on. Stoppage time? Really? Why not just call a timeout and stop the damn clock the first time and then you wouldn't have a need for stoppage time.
January 22, 20179 yr Author I wonder if mamaw knows anything about curling. She's a sportsaholic. I bet she has played shuffleboard and I'm sure she has cleaned house and swept the floors just like they do in curling, so maybe she could improve my understanding of that sport.
January 22, 20179 yr Author Cricket. I like to watch curling, even if I don't understand it all. I was hoping you could help me understand curling.

January 22, 20179 yr I remember the days of ESPN covering Aussie Football, those dudes were tough. The guy in the suit who signaled a successful whatever with the two-hand point thingy was enough to keep any sports fan watching. I'll wait for that part and figure out the rest in between.
January 22, 20179 yr Author I remember the days of ESPN covering Aussie Football, those dudes were tough. Football without pads and helmets. Damn right, they were.
