Willis's issues lie solely on the fact that he isn't hitting open 3's. That's why he is out there. Both Willis and Fox shoot so many shots that look good coming out of there hand, but simply aren't falling. Hopefully they do.

 

If by issues you mean he isn't a great shooter then yes. He's also a liability in all other aspect of the game.

People say that every year. Then when Duke and UNC play everybody remember why it's the best rivalry. Not taking away anything from Louisville/UK but Duke/UNC is on a different level.

Duke-UNC is definitely not on a different level from the UK-UL rivalry. It may be on the same level but it's not an ounce more intense, competitive, and bitter.

 

If anything the UK-UL rivalry means more because they only get a chance to play once a year unless they meet in the NCAA tournament. This is strictly my opinion but I think that fact may be what gives it a slight edge over Duke-UNC. Playing each other twice per year and sometimes three times puts too much familiarity into the rivalry. In the UK-UL rivalry their one game is a now or never situation.....until next year.

Which is the point many national pundits and I believe some former Dukies were even making last night on why UK/UL is the best rivalry in college basketball.

I'm more disappointed in Willis than any of the Cats. He's a senior but not playing like one. He had a wide open 3 attempt that missed to close the first half that would have given UK a 4 point lead. And a few other times he had open looks that would have helped big time but he missed them too. He has to knock down more open shots than he's been doing.

 

Other than missing wide open threes, I thought Willis did a decent job rebounding(9) and defensively he held his own. I was extremely disappointed with Briscoe. I'm beginning to wonder if Briscoe will play at the next level.

Willis is a very good shooter. All you have to do is look at his stats from last year. I thought he played pretty well last night.

No he proved last year he can knock down shots. We already know he is a liability elsewhere. But you live with it if he knocks down shots. If he can start making shots again he serves his purpose.

As far as the difference between the rivalries of UL/UK and UNC/Duke, I think that they are on the same level overall nationally. The UNC/Duke games are bigger in a sense IMO due to them being in the same conference, but from the general rivalry perspective I'd rank both as equal with regard to intensity.

I don't know what Louisville's season stats are but was this their best shooting game of the year? I always watch the games at our golf course clubhouse and we were discussing that point during the game. One guy commented after a Cardinal 3 pointer that the other games he had watched them play they couldn't make anything but a dunk but tonight they look like Golden State.

 

Was probably their best 3 shooting game at 42.9 percent. Overall they were just 43.3, but held UK to 39.7 overall and 22.7 on 3FG.

Another great coaching performance from Ky. Hall of Famer.......no defensive changes, no full court pressure until one minute remaining and Ville with one ball handler.....let a rhythm shooter sit last ten minutes of half and halftime.....understand the two foul situation but young man has to learn how to handle that situation, couldn't even make a minor adjustment in going over the top on ball screens.....just the usual from the hero of Ky!!!!

I agree. That certainly adds extra spice to it. I was just telling a buddy after the game that I don't think the rivalry will have the same venom after Cal and Rick are gone.
