December 23, 20169 yr I agree. That certainly adds extra spice to it. I was just telling a buddy after the game that I don't think the rivalry will have the same venom after Cal and Rick are gone. It heated up for sure when Rick took the UL job & it intensified with Cal. Then there was a Final Four game, a Sweet 16 game, & national title seasons in consecutive years. These are the glory days for this rivalry, even though it's been mostly one-sided (Wednesday notwithstanding) during Cal/Rick. The hatred is for real. I know I hate your guts something awful.

Now the only thing I really hate are "those" UK fans. I never root against UK when they aren't playing UofL like I used to. I generally like most of their players, although there is one every few years or so that I can't stand for whatever reason. I give some of my UK buddies a hard time when I can, but that's mutual and to be expected in a rivalry. Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age. Or maybe I just don't let it bother me as much.

December 24, 20169 yr I'll gladly take the football win over this. Agree. The upset win in football was HUUUUGE for the program. A three point-loss to a top ten team on their home court after missing 100 freethrows...no biggie. Anyone really think UK wouldn't win 7 of 10 between these two? Anyone really think UofL will survive UK come March? I'll take the football win.
