Lincoln County 21 Rockcastle County 18

I am not sure that i would call this an upset. Based on recent success of the respective programs....maybe, But, LC has a very talented backfield, a new and improved Offensive Coordinator and a solid defense.

I think this is LC's 1st quality win over a quality (name) opponent since 2000 or 2001. Maybe the drought is over.

A tough and hard hitting game. Lincoln finally played a game through to the end. Rockcastle's line is for real. O and D. Lincoln went up quick and Rockcastle played well to come back. Two big plays before half helped Rockcastle get back into the game. Lincoln played tough and hung on to the end.

Great win Patriots. Keep it going

I thought it was a good game between both teams. The Rockets need to improve kicking game and start playing better in the first quarter like they do in the 2nd half. But you have to admit was no shutout LC only beat Rock by 3.

Good win by the Patriots. I can see them finishing second in their district, although they have tough games with Clark County, South Laurel and Whitley County.

As for the Rockets, I think they can still win their district, simply because the Bell County game is in Mount Vernon.

Both Lincoln and Rockcastle can make a little noise in their classes this season!

Good thing they don't have to worry about Madison Central or North Laurel. ;)

This game was a gigantic win for the Patriots! Wow!!! This gives them a lot of confidence and momentum going into district play!

Rock outgains LC in every category except the scoreboard.

Rushing:

Rock 191

Lincoln 101

Passing:

Rock 83

LC 60

Total Offense:

Rock 271 yards

LC 161 yards

Rock had -34 yards also in sacks or they would've had over 300 yards.

I wouldn't have said this was a major upset if you knew anything about either team. LC with some major speed, at their place and Rock banged up missing two starters and dressing only 35 players. Rock needs some depth.

Miller for Rock had 25 carries for 190 yards.

How much did JC miss their QB?

What? :sssh: :D

Another thing, LC came out with a 21-0 lead early in the dirst 3 possessions. Rock held them to 24 yards of offense the rest of the 3 quarters. They played an excellent ballgame. Everyone will look at the score and not realize how close Rock should've won. They were inside the 5 yard line and didn't get in which would've helped greatly. Also the kicking game is not in the favor of the Rockets. Rock had 2 questionable fumble calls, but all in all LC brought their A+ game and pulled out the win. Congrats, their speed and coaching will take them a long way this year.

Oops! I left a part out of this post. I was implying that they would finish second to Madison Central, unless they tripped up against those three I listed. I left North Laurel off, but it looks like they are playing better. Maybe I'm just an idiot!

These two teams could play ten times and they would probably split. I would bet that if this game was played on October 8 and then again on November 8, Rockcastle County would win them both. Don't fret, Rockets...you'll be knocking on that 3A door come Thanksgiving.

Why is Rock only dressing 35 players? Isn't that a big drop from the past several years?

Is Miller #23? I remember him being a tough runner when I saw them.

Great High School football game. LCs D stepped up at the end of the game with a couple of big plays, getting to Rock in the backfield on back to back plays. Rock turn the ball over on downs, LC takes a knee three time to run the clock out.
