capt278
The Carrier press release said this was done as a result of state tax incentives. Someone asked earlier where our current POTUS was. How can our current POTUS give a state tax incentive? I doubt Carrier is going to announce they are keeping jobs b/c Mr Trump promised contracts in the future. How could he ever make such a promise? Carrier isn't going to do a "trust me" deal. That leaves us with one real reason they stayed. Gov Pence gave state tax dollars to them. Worked. So instead of asking where the current POTUS is shouldn't the question be "why wasn't the state tax incentive put forth by Gov Pence offered earlier?" President Obama could have done the same thing. He could have asked Pence to push for state tax incentives to save the jobs. Let's not forget that.

Builder1214
How dare Trump do what he said he was going to do! This is really simple. It is about making an effort to keep jobs in America.
Builder1214
And why would Gov Pence been as receptive to giving a state incentive when asked by President Obama? President Obama would not have asked because it would go against his goal of a globalized economy.
Hatz
I have no problem with that. There should be a law that if you sell your product here, you have to make it here. So you don't believe in Free Market Capitalism???

CBDV
I voted Trump. I dislike President Obama policies. This is a bad move, let the free market decide, I want no government intervention.

It could be argued that government intervention (taxes and regulations) is what put companies in a position to move manufacturing overseas. Fear the Nation
So that would be a No. :thumb:No I don't believe that you should be able to move your factory to a third world country, pay less than $5.00 a day labor, ship your products back here to sell and gain American dollars. I believe in a free market that is American made. Yes I get the irony of the statement and its contradictory nature. But if you sell it here, make it here. Reguardless how you feel that would put our economy right again.

However that sounds a little socialistic for someone who holds such conservative views for our Nation and often derides other socialist ideas. Fear the Nation
I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with you. However that sounds a little socialistic for someone who holds such conservative views for our Nation and often derides other socialist ideas. It's not socialist. No government owned companies. I don't care if its a Chinese or German or whoever the rich man at the top is. Don't care where or what country the profit goes to. If you want to participate in one of the best markets in the world you have to have skin in the game. I use toyota and georgetown as a example. Foreign owned company that makes it here.... That would bring the middle class roaring back instead of our sellout trade deals that has the middle class declining.. What's your idea then?
