Do they not care about their jobs staying in America? And let's not play games. We know which factories drive the Harrodsburg economy. It would be dumb as hell for them to cut off the hand that continues to feed them handsomely. Let's not act like Harrodsburg, Mercer County and KY has any true leverage or say in what Corning chooses to do. The Harrodsburg plant is a developmental plant and not a production plant. We don't produce glass for production purposes. We develop it and then ship the recipe overseas so they can produce it in China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea. In 2014 Corning bought Samsung and in Korea Samsung has a plant that is so large it has its own transportation system. It has in upwards of 50 tanks at that plant and at least 10-20 that sit idle at any given time. You know how many tanks we have in Harrodsburg that are currently operable? Five. You know how many are idle with no plans of coming back up? Two. You know how many tanks are going down next year? Two. You know how many are coming back up? Maybe one. So in a plant that houses a total of 7 tanks, 2 of them are down. 2 more are going down next year and one of them may come up. That leaves 3 tanks total in a 7 tank plant that is expected to run next year and hopes of that being 4 by the end of the year. Best case scenario right now is that in 2019 we are back up to 5 tanks running. Now, keep in mind we are constantly reminded at how well Korea is doing and how we need to make sure we keep our safety equipment as long as possible so we can keep overall costs down so we can complete with Korea. Korea wants to be able to develop the glass over there because it is cheaper for them to develop it there than it is for us to develop it and ship it to them so they can experiment with it and learn how to make it for production purposes. It makes much more business sense for them to move the development part of their business to Korea but they are still hanging in with us because we continue to prove that we are good at what we do. The day they decide they want to Korea they will do so and there won't be any tax incentives or meetings with Trump that will be able to save us. Period.
