As it stands, you could get a prime time game with two teams that haven't won a game. It's not likely, but the possibility is there. As far as males 18-34, I'd say soccer has a lot to do with that. More and more kids have been playing soccer (or sports other than football) and I'd say that trend is likely to continue.

October 7, 20169 yr Since the Jags are an out of town team I can't watch em on TV. I usually find a stream online to watch it. I generally wont watch any other team unless I have 2-3 fantasy players going in that game.
October 7, 20169 yr NFL ratings are down because the game sucks now. With all their stupid rules and penalties, it just sucks. I swear I wouldn't watch the NFL if they didn't have fantasy football.

All the teams are fungible. They all play the same. Also, too much passing and not enough rushing....slows the game and takes away a traditional component of the game --- the great running back. No KO returns, interminable video replays, etc. .......they're trying to make the game too pure.

October 7, 20169 yr Ratings and attendance are down for college football as well. We've beat this horse before. The sport as a whole is losing popularity. The younger people are just not as interested. Their attention span is captured by quicker forms of entertainment. Online video gaming has never been more popular.

October 8, 20169 yr I think its a little bit of everything. I bet the protests pushed some people away. Many people want to be entertained and get away from controversial issues when they watch sports. Not be constantly reminded of it. I bet the over saturation has something to do with it too along with the product/rules etc.
October 8, 20169 yr I agree there is not one reason for the decline in viewership but we are all kidding ourselves if we try to minimize the National Anthem effect. All the other reasons listed on here were there in previous years (defense not being allowed to hit anyone, poor officiating, bad primetime games, Thursday Night games in general, over saturation). The only truly NEW thing this year IMO is the National Anthem stuff. It may be the straw that broke the camel's back for some folks...not me but some. I just think the product is pretty boring. I love watching Red Zone...without it, I would hardly watch.

Nothing like watching a game end up 0-0. Can't stand watching soccer, if the grandkids didn't play it I would never watch it.
