I've gotten to where I work on Sundays and can follow every game on my phone. The NFL controls what you can watch when it comes to their product. I can follow every game smoothly from my phone and get paid while doing it.

 

I'll normally watch SNF and ignore TNF and MNF.

I must be in the minority. I watch every game I can. I'm an NFL junkie. I don't play fantasy.

I think that might have 1% to do with it. Maybe 0.5%. In general I think most don't care that much outside of the initial 3 day rage.

Not a chance the protests are the reason the ratings are down that much. Minuscule part of the problem, if any.

So the only variable that has really changed from last year to this year is the protests. Ratings aren't just down a little. I think the bad games are making I easier for people to tune out. If the product was still top notch people would be more inclined to over look the protest.

The games being bad has much more to do with it than any POTENTIAL protests that may occur.

 

The protests were happening at the beginning of the games, and not all of them were even seen on TV. If someone wanted to miss those, just tune in after the game starts.

Agree. Who's going to be watching this coming Monday Night? Both teams are 1-3. Cam Newton is out. Jameis Winston has been mediocre at best and the Bucs defense has been horrible. I may not even watch?

 

Ummm...the guy who has Jameis Winston, Mike Evans and the Panthers D going in the game...(only playing Jameis because Cam is out)....

 

If not for FF, I may not watch this game if the two teams were playing in my back yard for free.

I have Kelvin Benjamin, Panthers D, and my opponent has Derek Anderson. I will be tuned into baseball as usual this time of year.

Fantasy football and gambling is what has separated NFL from other leagues. I play fantasy football but not real seriously. On the other hand I gamble more than most on the games and always watch. I agree with other posts that Thursday and Monday night games haven't been anywhere near as good as Sunday nights. Thursdays games almost feel like players don't want to play.

I watched it. Since the Bucs suck and I don't have Sunday Ticket this may be one of the few chances I get to see Jameis and Aguoyo. It was interesting. I'll watch them next chance I get for sure.

I don't know one single person not watching because of the protests that are yesterday's news. I do know people not watching because of the Red Zone channel, because of their ability to follow games on their phones, because they are too busy, because they'd rather be fishing or hunting, because they don't care, because they are actually at the games in person. I still don't know anyone not watching because of the protests. Packers fans, Cowboys fans, Bears fans, etc aren't going to quit watching because of the protests of what, 10 people now? Anyone who quits watching the NFL because of the protests wasn't watching much NFL to begin with.

Anyone who quits watching the NFL because of the protests wasn't watching much NFL to begin with. I blame oversaturation more than anything else. If you're like me and don't have Red Zone I can put it on the NFL Network at 1pm and get a generic version of the Red Zone channel there if I don't like the games local TV is offering. It's way too easy to follow NFL action without watching games these days.

Forget ratings, everyone is playing fantasy football these days and FanDuel and Draft Kings are still making absurd money right now as well. The protests ain't stopping cash in people's hands.
