If the presidential debates are hurting ratings then that's sad. Who in their right mind would rather listen to those 2 speak than watch football?

A Fox News poll said the national anthem protests are the leading cause of ratings being down. I think that is hilarious. I bet folks can't even name the number of protestors and who is doing it besides Kaepernick. And what is even funnier is that the main folks behind the "quit being offended movement" are the ones offended by a peaceful protest. Makes me wonder if the NBA will gain NFL viewers since they have a rule stating you must stand for the anthem.

I never said you were offended. I said people who refuse to watch the NFL because of Kap's protest are offended. You already said that isn't the reason you don't watch the NFL anymore so my offended statement doesn't apply to you.

I agree with Clyde. And I'd say that the numbers reflect the increase in fantasy folks not having to watch the games, heck they get instant updates. The product on the field may affect us old diehards, but the new generation could give a rip about the product, they are interested in player points/stats.

I don't know that the product is necessarily worse. I still enjoy watching my favorite team or a game between two top teams. The problem IMO is there have always been bad games, it's just that now with expanded TV coverage, more of those bad games are on TV. It's really simple....if a good (or at least what seems to be a good game) game on TV, people will watch. Put two bad teams on TV, and people won't watch it.

The reason NFL ratings are down is quite simple. Thursday Night Football, Monday Night football, Sunday Night Football and Football in London. It is the over saturation of NFL and later in the season you will have Mon, thur, Sat and Sunday football. Goodell is ruining the game. It used to be you would look forward to Football on Sundays and a special game on MNF. Now he has teams playing in London and playing 4 days a week. There isn't anything special about the NFL anymore. That is why ratings are down.

I think another reason is the increasing amount of people that are dropping cable each and every year. That slowly cuts into the rating system for the NFL but obviously it's not the whole story but it's playing a part.

This is true. The guys at our golf club have a couple of fantasy leagues going on and they will watch a few minutes of a game but usually go out and play golf and keep up with their fantasy points on their phones.

As a fantasy junkie, it definitely makes you want to watch more games. It turns that TEN/JAX clunker into a nailbiter. When I can't catch the games on Sunday I'm mostly uninterested in fantasy. Just my perspective.
