October 12, 20169 yr I don't know one single person not watching because of the protests that are yesterday's news. I do know people not watching because of the Red Zone channel, because of their ability to follow games on their phones, because they are too busy, because they'd rather be fishing or hunting, because they don't care, because they are actually at the games in person. I still don't know anyone not watching because of the protests. Packers fans, Cowboys fans, Bears fans, etc aren't going to quit watching because of the protests of what, 10 people now? Anyone who quits watching the NFL because of the protests wasn't watching much NFL to begin with. And why do they do ratings like political polls. No one ever checks out what I am watching. Again, red zone, watching on phones, ect...is not new this year. I do know people that aren't watching because of the protests. No they aren't die hard fans but those aren't the fans the NFL has to worry about losing. It's the causal fans that are dropping. Yes the bad games has an effect but if you guys think the protests have had zero effect or even very little effect I don't know what to say. The numbers don't lie.

What is it? 3-5 BGPers refusing to watch NFL games for the rest of their lives because of Kap? With those 3-5 saying they didn't watch many NFL games anyways? And yes, these Red Zone and smartphones aren't new but I know way more people following games at their leisure than sitting down and watching games. Bars are still full on Sundays. My break room at work has the TVs on the NFL everytime a game is on and folks go up there to watch. I'm just not seeing this widespread of disgust of the NFL over Kap. People simply don't make time to sit down and watch games. Come playoffs and Super Bowl the ratings will be the same as they always are.

My point is the ratings are down significantly. The only new variable is the protest. IMO, the protests pushed alot of fans over the edge causing them to stop watching. Would it on it's own have done that, I don't believe so. But I think the combination of bad games, hate for NFL leadership, rule changes, ect...did it.
October 13, 20169 yr NASCAR attendance and ratings are way down also. As far as I know, there have been no protests at a NASCAR event. Same product and avenues to watch as last year. Why do you think ratings are down for it? FWIW, I don't know anyone not watching NFL because a couple people kneeled down. I know many people who think the the protest is disrespectful and stupid, but they are still watching every Sunday. And I just got Directv this year, so I am spending a lot of time on the RZ channel.

October 17, 20169 yr Again, the biggest variable is the Presidential election. The numbers show a rating's decrease in previous Presidential election years. And while the decrease is concerning, they are still drawing large numbers compared to your average show. Not as if they are drawing nothing.
