I started getting that familiar feeling of dread when UK gave up the 72 yd TD late in the first half.

 

I knew then...nobody dramatically upset with it happening. It's okay we have a big lead.

Well I slept on it...and I don't feel any better. Last night was an epic failure. A season killer in game 1.

I genuinely feel for you guys. That was brutal. When the collapse started, it happened fast.

 

If there's a silver lining, several other teams on the UK schedule also struggled mightily this week so maybe there are more wins out there than previously thought. USM was a darn good football team last year and even with their coach moving on, they clearly still have a lot of his influence on the field.

Which is why I can't blame the players.

 

I can. They lack desire. Stoops either recruited good athlete/low motor, or they haven't connected with him and are over it. Too many plays taken off.

I think the defense knew the entire second half that it was over, they knew they couldn't stop the run and just took jab after jab until it was over.

This is how it has been since the loss to Mississippi State. After that game a couple of seasons ago, they lack effort when adversity hits. That is a player and coach issue

The game really turned on the first offensive drive of the second half. Kentucky started out so positive. Had the big catch and run; really thought they were going to take it in and erase the memories of last year against Louisville. Nope. It was a collapse offensively again. I know the defense gave up a lot of points but this failure is on the offense for not being able to stay on the field and give the defense see rest. Florida could be real ugly.

The sad thing is that UK fans are DYING to have a good football program. I know the old thing is that UK is a basketball school, blah, blah, blah. The reality is, UK fans would love to be good in football too. Unfortunately, it's been a 25-year root canal.

Completely unexcusable. No way should they have lost but yet Kentucky found away to give the game away. Gonna be a long year if some things don't change...defense was horrible in the second half.

 

Don't think their gonna go to the swamp and beat the Gators next week...

 

I think if Kentucky don't make it to a bowl game this season or at least beat some teams they haven't beaten since God knows when, then I think a head coaching change is instore.

I feel that Stoops gave us legit reason to be optimistic about his players and the future. However, for whatever reason the results just aren't there. Disappointing.

I've had the feeling over the past 2 weeks that the reason Jedrick Wills hasn't committed to Alabama is that he would like to pick UK, but wants to see if UK is truly capable of developing people & the team.

 

I had hope that a good start to the season might help persuade him. That feeling is all but gone now.

UK fans have already given up on this season. After one game. They are done and it's hard to blame them.
