August 23, 201610 yr I'm in Louisville, while my parents and all of my family live in NKY along with my in-laws and all of my wife's family - so about an hour and twenty minutes away. We go back and visit about once every 3 or 4 weeks, and we probably average once a month on visits from either my parents or my in-laws. My wife and I are both very tight with our families, and we're looking forward to moving back to NKY to be nearer to them once med school/residency is over with. We literally live the same life…, but in an alternate time and reality. We came to NKY from L’ville for Mr. PV’s school fully intending to move back “home”. 20+ years later we’re still here LOL… So, yeah, we live in NKY and parents/family are in L’ville. 100 miles. Hour and a half drive…. we go down there at least once a month and it’s just far enough away to be a major pain in the beep.
August 23, 201610 yr 4 hours from my mom Across town from father-in-law 5 miles from son About 6 months after getting married I got transferred out of state. My wife and I went from seeing her parents and my dad several times a week to being 5 1/2 hours away. Spent most of the next 10 years off on our own....That was the BEST thing that could have ever happened to us. Neither set of parents were meddlesome, but being out completely on our own made us a stronger team. We now feel we can face anything and get through anything, as long as we have each other.

August 25, 201610 yr Mrs. S's parents lived in Largo. Her only surviving sibling also lives there. It's about 45 minutes away. Dad and I built a house in 2000 and we combined households there. We lived with and took care of my parents, until their deaths (Mom in 2008 and Dad in 2012). My sister lives next door to me, in my parents first Florida home. My son and his family live northeast of Orlando, in Apopka, about an hour and a half out with no traffic. My daughter's brood lives in Clearwater. It takes 35 to 40 minutes to get to her place. I don't get to see enough of anybody.
August 26, 201610 yr I live about 1.5 miles from both my folks and her folks. Perfect distance, although I'm a huge family guy and I know if my parents were like Everyone loves Raymond my mom would clean my house every day. Easy to get to both on short notice or for a drop in, also makes Saturday night babysitting easy. 7-8 minute drive one way.
August 26, 201610 yr In laws are about 5 hours away in Nashville. Rest of Mrs GT's family is local, but we all get along really well. Mom is gone, but Dad is 10 minutes away and my family is about 90% located in NKY...
August 28, 201610 yr 20 minutes. I easily have the coolest mothe-in-law in the world. Actually wouldn't mind if they lived closer
August 29, 201610 yr I'm interested why the original poster is so interested in this... Mentioned it at least twice in the original thread. Cook went to a (traditionally) better job that is closer to his wife's family, and closer to Lexington. Other than the timing, this move was a no brainier.
