As time has gone on and I've had more time to think about it I'd rather have seen UL wait for the NCAA to dish out punishment. Jumping ship on the season today is Steve Spurrierish but I understand why they did it.

 

Like others have said it is much easier to claim self righteous now and punish Lee and Lewis than it is to wait for a ruling from the NCAA whenever that may come. I just really hate it for Lee and Lewis and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I have a hard time believing Pitino wasn't consulted on this and I definitely don't believe this is Pitino's last season. His ego won't allow him to go out like this.

Were the players at the news conference yesterday, or was this a separate news conference with the players?

So I've never heard the motive behind all this for Andre McGee. Does he feel he was wronged by Louisville?

Not being a smart Alec but it's not difficult to pass a lie detector test.

 

They are more accurate than not. Knowing the questions beforehand makes it easier.

 

I talked briefly on this subject back in October with someone very close the program and Pitino. In fact, in was at the Boyle Co/LexCath football game.

 

Just a passing 'how is it going in Louisville' generated a response that was interesting. They said Pitino was blindsided by this. They said he took full responsibility for the messy restaurant affair and felt appropriately terrible and embarrassed. But this was done completely outside of his knowledge and that he was going to fight for the program and himself on this. He was enraged at the situation.

 

That all said, when a grenade explodes its hard to tell how big the blast and how far the shrapnel will go. And even indirectly or non-directly involved people, especially head coaches, can take unfair and sometimes fatal hits.

 

I guess now that the grenade is starting to go-off we will see.

2. Katina Powell arrested and jailed for sex trafficking a minor

3. Any former player arrested for having sex with a minor.

4. Any coach that was involved in funding be charged as well.

 

5. Rick Pitino fired. At the end of the day he is responsible. I am tired of all the drama and scandal. after 14 years its time to move on. I think in April we will see him leave.

Instead of a post season ban this year, a post season ban next year. I say that is a tougher sanction than this one. This post season ban does not hurt UL. It only hurts the players on this team and is a total blind side. Remember, student athletes first, right? By taking the ban on this post season, UL threw these players under the bus for their own benefit. If they announce the ban is for next year, all these players get to make a decision about next year with full knowledge of the situation. It still shows the NCAA that the institution is accepting the consequences of their employee's actions and has institutional control.

Lewis and Lee were made available to the media a few hours after the initial news conference. When Lewis and Lee came in to speak with reporters, the entire team walked in with them.

VOR you are 100% right. That is one of the reason the decision was made to do the ban this season. I don't believe Rick wasn't a part of the decision.

To be honest the only solution would be to ban coaches, AD's, etc that was there during the violations. I'm not saying that would be right, but I imagine it would be a good deterrent to help prevent future violations. Post season bans don't solve the problem one bit.

 

I've said this forever. As long as coaches can skate off to another job as soon as NCAA sanctions surface stuff like this will happen. I'm no UK fan but it was a farce that Eddie Sutton was able to coach OSU in the NCAA tournament while UK payed for his transgressions. And just so I hack the UKers off good, I feel the same way right now about Calipari. When a coach's program is found to have major violations the coach should be given an lifetime NCAA ban. Let it be re-visited after a few years and maybe let him/her come back on a probationary period. Until the head coaches feel some of the actual punishments cheating will happen. There's to much finincial incentive for it not to.

I don't disagree with this at all other then Pitino should be fired, not suspended.

I hope the YUM is electric today as Boston College comes in. Lewis and Lee deserve no less.
