Holy Cross 73 Covington Catholic 68

"Unofficial" free throw shooting percentages for both teams tonight was outstanding. Cov Cath misses only 1 attempt if we had it right.

Cov Cath 18/19 for 94.7%

Holy Cross 21/27 for 77.8%

Like was stated before, that's where the dressing room is.......if you have ever been to a Holy Cross game that is where the refs conjugate EVERYTIME.

Ick.

Is that when referees figure out that form and tense of a verb they will use when announcing fouls?

Max Preps has CCH ranked nat 1,300 and Holy Cross at 2,600. Makes no sense. Holy Cross should easily be top 800.

To answer a few of the questions that have not been answered...

I believe its Beechwood's turn to host the District. Also, since this district began seeding in 2000, HC has never been the #1 seed in the District. Prior to 2000 this District was always blind draw so all of the great teams HC had in the 90s were never in a seeded district.

Ahhh - but I am sure you will have something to say.

Welcome aboard, and WOW...such the charmer.

If I'm not mistaken, somewhere in this thread you said that you've put 3 boys through CCH... so would it be correct in assuming that you are an adult?

You are an adult,... right?

The best part about this thread is people angry about Chappie and where he sits. No former player in the 9th thinks Chappie is bias. We might all joke with him about being blind but not bias .

I know these are new posters and not normal CCH posters but lord the little team in Latonia won for once. It's ok kids calm down.

It is nice to see HC win. The 90s were more fun to watch when HC was equal or better than Holmes and CCH.

I may have missed this game but glad I got up at 4am to see this thread.

Congrats to HC. Very impressive win!

By the way this game is why you play big games in high school gyms and not at NKU. Great atmosphere. Props to Ann J and the HC folks.

You want to play a regional tilt at the Finn? It's bad enough to play the district there. You'd have to get there at 4:00 to get in.

Holy Cross now has wins over Cooper, Newcath, AND Covcath. Not too many teams around the state that could accomplish that feat, IMO.

The big question still remains...can Holy Cross win the big games away from The Finn? They have had the luxury of getting the other contenders on their home court. To their credit, they've done what good teams do. Win at home regardless of opponent.

If people think HC doesn't have a huge advantage playing good teams at home they haven't seen many big games there. There's something about playing all the time in that gym that the visitors don't get to experience. The closeness is something that other gyms around the area don't have and shooting background, tight baselines and the deafening sound are tough to get used to in a single game. Huge advantage HC imho.

Just a side note, I thought that Terry Niehaus and Dave Bezold did an excellent job on the radio call of the game. Bezold added nice touches to the broadcast from a coaches perspective.

I never once said he was bias, just said it looks bad being there, standing around the HC bench, chatting it up with all his friends, for two plus hours before he heads to get ready for the game. If he wants to watch the freshmen game, I am sure HC would have had no issue getting him upstairs where the radio broadcasters were, but why would they when they can sit there and talk it up with him. I wasn't sure who the other refs were, what time did they show for the game yesterday?

And I was a neutral observer at the game, I congratulate HC on their win, they deserved to win. Bezold was the hardest worker on the floor. He uses every bit of his god given talent! Based on what I saw, I think there will be a different outcome if they meet again, away from the Finn.

Ick.
