September 16, 200620 yr Why are the Reds out of it you ask? How's this over the last 10 games: Freel 9 - 38 (.237). 6 runs. 1 hr. 1rbi. 5 bb. 10 k. Hatteberg 5 - 29 (.172) 1 run. 0 hr. 3 rbi. 4 bb. 2k. Griffey 0 - 4 (.000) 0 runs. 0 hr. 0 rbi. 1 bb. 0 k. Dunn 5 - 30 (.167) 4 runs. 1 hr. 3 rbi. 10 bb. 14 k. Edwin 9 - 35 (.257) 7 runs. 0 hr. 2 rbi. 3 bb. 2 k. Ross 3 - 22 (.136) 1 run. 0 hr. 2 rbi. 4 bb. 6 k. Phillips 6 - 39 (.154) 1 run. 1 hr. 5 rbi. 1 bb. 8 k. Harang (his last 10 appearances) 2 - 4 and an era of 4.55. Ace? Guys just locked up down the stretch, no more, no less. WOW! That is a huge choke job. How about Jr? Has an opportunity to be involved in a playoff race and can't even answer the bell. Out of the 7 listed above BP(Harang maybe) is the only one I would want on my team. A major shake up will have to occur in the offseason for the Reds to hope to be competive next year. Absolutely Griffey has to go. If the Reds go with these guys next year they lose 100.

You will get the same from Griff, Dunn, Hatte and Rich might not have as good of year but Phillips and Edwin are only going to get better.
September 16, 200620 yr 2 hits in a 4-0 loss today. Ouch... It just seems like they don't care anymore.

If Griffey insists on playing center next year and Dunn stays in left, that constitutes 2/3 of a very poor outfield. Catcher is a huge? Hatte is what 38 next year? his #s will decline. Same for Aurillia. I still say Freel is better in a utility role. Pitching is avg at best and thats a stretch. I don't think all the other NL teams stay pat so a .500 winning pct is not competitive next year. Again if the Reds stay pat the will be terrible. IMO
September 16, 200620 yr Michalak fails to go 5 in yet another start given to him by the Cincinnati braintrust.
September 17, 200620 yr The next four days: Zambrano, Oswalt, Pettitte, and Clemens. Wow. :scared: That's awesome...
September 17, 200620 yr It just seems like they don't care anymore. My point exactly! If the veggie peddler wants a winning team, he needs to turnover about 90% of the roster. The current roster is made up of guys that are there for the paycheck and nothing else. The one that suprises me the most is Jr. You would think that an aging superstar such as himself would be driven to have a shot at getting in the world series to put an ! on his carreer. The longer he sticks around and flounders as he has, just diminishes his status. HOFamer? Sure. One of the best of all time? After age 30, I don't think so. He has to go! If you honestly think the Reds can compete with the group they have now, then I have a lot in central Fla you have got to see.
September 18, 200620 yr The next four days: Zambrano, Oswalt, Pettitte, and Clemens. Wow. :scared: One down, three to go. What is Oswalt's record vs. the Redlegs - seems like it's about 50-0.
September 18, 200620 yr Am I still supposed to be excited about the job Jerry has done? What are his numbers at the plate???
September 18, 200620 yr What are his numbers at the plate??? I assume by the above that you're saying the manager has no impact on his team's success or failure, right?
September 18, 200620 yr The Reds were universally predicted to lose 90 games and finish 5th or 6th in the Division -- they will do neither. Is Narron the 2nd coming of Casey Stengel, no. Is he the "problem" with their performance over the last 3 weeks -- IMHO, no.
