August 18, 200620 yr Probabaly true. We still need someone with an attitude. We need Ricky Vaugn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or Randy Myers in his Camo shirt under his uni!!
August 18, 200620 yr Or Randy Myers in his Camo shirt under his uni!! figured LaRue might be doing that. :sssh:
August 18, 200620 yr I just saw a couple of things in the paper. The Dodgers are the only team remaining with a record above .500 on the Reds schedule. Also, that was the last game against the Cardinals for the year. I don't remember playing them that much.
August 18, 200620 yr Or Randy Myers in his Camo shirt under his uni!! Exactly. All we need is for one of our relievers to find that motivation like the water boy. Maybe we should talk about their mamas?
August 18, 200620 yr If the Reds can sweep the Pirates this weekend they stand an excellent chance on gaining some ground in the NL Central and the Wild Card. The Cards have to play at Wrigley, where they haven't won all year, and the Padres and D'Backs will be playing each other.
August 18, 200620 yr Do you think that the batter is intimidated when he comes running in. That would take someone coming out of the pen with nasty "stuff" to back up his attitude. :thumb: The sight of a 6'3" 250lbs red head running from the bullpen doesn't quite do it for me. I'm like others, give Coffey a few years and he won't be running anymore. You want someone intimidating? Try "John Coffey" from the Green Mile. If "our" Coffey ever becomes an intimidator, maybe someone in the stands will have a sign that reads, "C-O-F-F-E-Y, just like the drink and spelled different and strong".
August 18, 200620 yr David Wright, the New York Mets' 23-year-old third baseman, has become one of baseball's stars: Sports Illustrated cover boy, All-Star, MVP candidate. Wright is hitting .304 with 22 home runs and 86 RBI. But you can make a strong argument that - at-bat for at-bat - the Reds' 23-year-old third baseman, Edwin Encarnacion, is having a better year. Encarnacion's counting stats - home runs and RBI - are well behind Wright's because Encarnacion has only 266 at-bats to 448 for Wright. But his on-base percentage (.384 to .378) is higher than Wright's. So is his slugging percentage (.541 to .531). Encarnacion has driven in a run every 4.5 at-bats. Wright has driven in a run every 5.2 at-bats. Their home run rates are dead even - one per 20.4 at-bats. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060818/SPT04/608180442/1071
August 18, 200620 yr From Lance... Reds have 41 games remaining. Ony 3 of those 41 games are against teams above .500, as of today........3 vs LA They begin a streak of 10 straight vs sub .500 teams tonight......then play 3 vs LA......then finish with 28 straight vs sub .500 teams. Granted, some teams are hovering around .500, but you get the idea of mediocre competition. Reds the rest of season... 41 games 3 games vs +.500 teams 6 SD 7 SF 9 Pitt 7 Cubs 6 Astros 3 Marlins 3 LA Cardinals the rest of the way....41 games 7 games vs +.500 teams 3 SD 3 SF 3 Pitt 6 Cubs 6 Astros 3 Mets 3 Marlins 3 Wash 7 Brewers 4 AZ
August 18, 200620 yr They will have no one to blame but themselves if they cant AT LEAST win the wildcard.
August 18, 200620 yr The Cards picked up Preston Wilson... That's a pretty good LF platoon with him and Duncan.
August 18, 200620 yr That's a pretty good LF platoon with him and Duncan. They need a CF right now, so I would be suprised to see much of a LF platoon...
August 18, 200620 yr They need a CF right now, so I would be surprised to see much of a LF platoon...True and Edmonds having the current medical problems....good acquisition by the Cardinals.
August 18, 200620 yr good acquisition by the Cardinals. I'm not so sure of that. If he couldn't make it happen in offensive starved Houston............
