This is extremely worrisome. The cameras and the IED factory at their house is just not your normal workplace violence tools.

The media should call it what it is...two Muslims with assault rifles mowed down 14 innocent civilians on American soil.

So how about that 6 month old? What motivates a Mom and Dad to do what they did assuming death or jail?

The Left seems to be less vocal about this incident than they were last weeks horrendous shooting in Colorado.

This is what we want to hear. This sort of thing would have helped in the wake of 911 and other Islamic terror attacks. To clearly hear Muslim clerics and faithful condemn such attacks as against Islam and human decency would help in public perception. It was the lack of such clear statements in the past that have hurt the perception of Muslims by some in this country.

 

 

 

They are a close second to people who have no belief in God and kill because they have determined morality for themselves and in effect have become their own god. They have nothing to lose in their mind, kill senselessly, and think they are doing evolution a favor by eliminating undesirables. Think Soviet Union, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, etc.

 

 

 

They wanted to be clear that this was not a handgun, (the media goes a little crazy over that and focuses on the gun rather than the perps), and they knew it was a long gun but not specifically which kind--shot gun, hunting rifle, or assault-rifle-look-alike (the media goes a little crazy over the latter and would focus on the gun not the perps).

 

 

 

Another Great Awakening would help, esp. with the senseless killing that occurs every night in big cities and elsewhere. Return to the importance of the family and personal responsibility, etc. It is hard to say what would help with the crazy people who decide they want to kill people for some undecipherable logic that only makes sense to them. But, if the general tenor of society was more positive, more moral, less narcissistic, less ready to blame others, and less saturated with mass immorality and violence in media and music, then maybe there would be fewer crazies who take this route. Evil begets evil.

If this isn't terrorism I'm not sure what is. This was, according to what we know, a well planned attack including bombs and guns, with intent to kill a lot of people, all while apparently recording it.

HB20, we all know the answer to that one. It doesn't fit his agenda. Plain and simple.

One neighbor stated many deliveries were made to home of shooters and the couple had frequent visitors of mid-eastern descent. Neighbor was afraid to call police because of being labeled as discriminatory.

This is a question that has no simple answer. I'm sure there are numerous people more qualified than any of us who are debating this same question. The way our society has become politically polarized, any solution will be met with serious backlash. I think any solution will be a compromise of the two schools of thought regarding gun control that exist today, something that I am not sure the current administration and congress can achieve. But I will offer my rudimentary thoughts on this.

 

I don't think gun control is any part of the answer because it doesn't address what it is that makes one human being willing to kill another human being. The implement most used in the murder of Americans is a blunt object not a gun. Gun control does not address this at all.

 

Why are people willing to kill? What is wrong inside their head or heart that gives them permission to do this? Any measure that wishes to actually address the problem of mass killing and individual killing must deal with these two areas first (the head and heart of those who perpetrate violence). Without addressing the actual problem, you cannot change the result. This is why gun control will not work in America.

The first target was a Planned Parenthood clinic. The shooter clearly was making a statement. The second target was an office party. Intent might be more personal than political. Don't know yet. If you wish to call both "terrorist attacks," that's fine. "Mass shootings" is probably a more accurate term for both.

California has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation
