Cooper 37 Highlands 13

Featured Replies

Might as well find employment and just stay there. Ft Thomas has burned to the ground. Nothing to come home to. Just stay there and become a Trinity fan!

With the water main breaks in FT they better keep clear of matches!

Did you watch the game? Kids hunched over and cramping all over the place...I call it as I see it..If you think they were in shape and well coached then I don't know what to say..

Nope. Wasn't there. The bar is high in Ft. Thomas. Maybe too high for some. Go Birds!

That's funny.

Highlands speed really impressed me.... Did I say that already?

Even their busses were already pulling out of the lot before cooper

even got off the field lol. Thought that was kinda funny...sorry but it was. Everything about HHS was fast tonight.

I guess the question is do they lose this game under Dale?

Cooper's defense is where they hang their hat and it showed tonight. Highlands is fast but Cooper is just as fast and closed the edges well.

Both teams were fighting cramps all night.... But that is hydration and not conditioning. Both teams were playing at a high level until the end when desperation set in and forced the deep pass attempts.

This is a great start to a hopefully strong year for Cooper!

Highlands coaches were very professional and nice after the game

I wished them luck the rest of the way and they were very cordial. They handled it great. I wouldn't want to be in the bus afterwards yet. Best of luck the rest of the way Birds.

Blah, Blah, Blah.....pucker up. :lol2:

And I'm not saying this as an excuse, but we were commenting on how slow this team looked compared to the last few years. But maybe that was Cooper making them appear that way.

Congrats to the Jags! Coach Borchers has done a great job building a winning program in Union. Anytime you can walk off the field with a win over HHS is huge. Things get a little easier next week with NCC but look forward to seeing how they do the rest of the year. The Jags will not be an easy out when it comes November in the playoffs. Good Luck the rest of the way!

Can we get some QB stats for both teams and who started for Cooper? I saw a sophomore and a senior get reps in a preseason 7-on-7.

Probably in shock. Highlands has shown cracks in the foundation post Dale, but nobody saw this coming.

Yes they have seen it coming! it has been talked about on here last 2-3 years that this SR class was weak. Everybody in Ft Thomas was concerned for this year (although some would never get on here and admit it). For over 10 years people gave me grief about talking up HHS and saying I was just a homer. Now this year I admit they have huge problems and I am called classless. I cheer for the Birds win or lose, but also post honestly about how I see the team good and bad, how is that classless? I liked the way Cooper played ( nice mix on O w/good QB, RB and WR, love the way the D flies to the ball), but everyone wants to crown Cooper the best in KY because they beat a bad HHS team. Folks there is a reason coaches in NKY coaches were willing to play HHS this year! Copper is going to win a lot of games this year, but they are going to play a lot of teams better than HHS and HHS is going to have troubles winning games this year.

I will continue to cheer for my Birds and hope to see improvement but not sure where that is going to happen. Just do not see the skill players on this team.

Whew! You found the excuse!!! Forgot about that! I'm sure practice was shortened because of the water main break yesterday! No way Cooper wins this game if HHS gets in a full practice yesterday. I was trying to think of excuses all the way home and could not come up with one! Thanks for helping me out. I feel much better now!

Yes

On another note, in Highlands last four games going back to last year, they have given up 37 tonight, 42, 26, and 34. They have some problems on defense, plain and simple.

Awesome job Jags! Stay humble, stay hungry... If you don't, I know for a fact Coach Borchers will make sure you get there!
