Cooper 37 Highlands 13

Featured Replies

How much does the showcasing of Beau Hoge last year in just about every game affect Hergott's Varsity experience?

How much was Highlands success last year due to Hoge? I think he was a huge difference maker for the Birds last year. Do you think Highlands wins a title last year without Hoge?

I believe how you answer those questions have a lot of relevance to this year's team and the state of the program.

NOT A CHANCE!

Looking at Highlands schedule.......I can understand if there is concern in Ft. Thomas right now. It's not like they lost by a TD or two. They were manhandled. I could see them losing 5 games.

Maybe 6

And also let's keep in mind Highlands had several boys sitting on the side lines. How many players did cooper have out? I seen some pretty big boys sitting out for the birds. However I would like to add this much Highlands had several players throwing helmets punching benches and acting shameful. That needs to be addressed. That is poor sportsman ship and should not be put up with

You are kidding right about the injured Highlands players? Please name the boys injured and their possible contribution in this game? The kids I saw on the field tonight are the kids that would be starting on a 100% healthy roster. Or am I missing someone?

As far as the shenanigans on the sidelines, totally unacceptable if happened and I don't question if it did. Kinda like players wearing their uniform pants after last weeks game to Dixie Chili. Saw two players myself and heard up to 10. That's embarrassing. That's on the coaches! Who does that. Grow up boys!

Come on brother. I know it's a team sport but without Beau Hoge last year they go 500. Showcased? So is that what everyone would of said if Beau would of struggled early on. Blame it on the year before? Beau was better than people think. Beau was Special! Sit through 1 film session with Beau Hoge as a critic of his and I bet you wouldn't have the courage to do it twice. Half the battle is preperation and knowing the game. You played the position right? Could you imagine how good Beau would of been as a 3 year starter?

If I was the Current QB at Highlands and just had 2 very mediocre weeks at my position, the First thing I would do on Sat morning would re- evaluate how I approach the Game.....Period! Start with that...

Cooper had 2 starting linemen leave the team a couple weeks ago.

As far as some HHS players showing their frustration, that will

happen but there was a moment during the game when the coaches see the film I'm sure will

adress concern to a couple HHS players. It was after the 2nd Hendrix INT there were 2

HHS players walking him off the field toward Cooper sidelines talking trash and running their mouths to Hendrix. The refs didn't see it because they were conferring over a flag at the end of the play. They were a little out of line but they were also frustrated in sure. Hard to keep your mouth shut sometimes in the heat of the moment.

PP92 ... read the post above yours here.

I read it. The only similarity is that both teams were blown out in their first game. It's obvious Cooper was underestimated before this game in a huge way and Cooper looks to be a threat to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Let's check facts though....Dixie emerged from the side of 6A class that was considered weak. Their toughest scheduled opponents last season? CovCath and Ryle. In the playoffs they played Ryle again, beat SK again, beat Ballard and then got smoked by Trinity. Highlands plays Campbell County next week and they gave them a good game last year. Then they play Scott County, Ryle, SK, St. X, Dixie and CovCath before they get Grant County and Boone County to end the season. Out of all of those teams, before tonight, how many of those teams did you think were better than Cooper? Again, it's clear that Cooper is way better than people thought but I'm thinking all of those teams not named Grant County and Boone County are licking their chops after seeing this score tonight.

And I guarantee Ft. Thomas is concerned.

Hoge just like Tanner Morgan this year are the real deal. Just like HHS last year, Ryle will go as far as Morgan takes them.

Maybe 6

I can see it. The last time I saw a Highlands team lose like this to a KY team was in the state finals in 2003 to Boyle County.

Congrats to the Jags, excellent way to start the year and a win like this just builds confidence for a group of kids who already knew they were better than advertised.

And we all know where that led to. But then again, Highlands had the Mad Scientist.

Yes we do. He changed the game. Word up.

I won't be one bit surprised if Highlands wins all those games except Scott County.

I won't be surprised if Highlands loses 4.

On another note, in Highlands last four games going back to last year, they have given up 37 tonight, 42, 26, and 34. They have some problems on defense, plain and simple.

That would be a wrong answer there my friend. Were you there? How about someone post some stats for us and see how terrible the Highlands defense is/was. Take out Cordell Armstrong's long TD run and the two late TD's when Highlands went into desperation mode and tell me what those look like. The problem is on the other side of the ball. When you cannot get first downs and turn the ball back over to the other team after running 3 to 5 plays then you get what you saw. There are several guys on that D that should be seeing some time on that O. Time to quit trying to 2-platoon when you do not have the horses to do it with.
