Cooper 37 Highlands 13

Featured Replies

I think they were pointed out by you, me, and others in the thread after X scrimmage. QB not able to move offense because of poor decisions, poor accuracy, total pocket passer with no wheels( not saying he can't improve but it will take a lot). RB's run east and west.( O line might have something to do with that, but do not see playmaker at RB). Do not see playmaker at WR. Just do not see skills players on O. D looks pretty good except for a couple big plays they gave up. Problem is they are on the field all game because of O inability to do anything.

As for HHS sucking in every sport, not sure what that is suppose to mean, but I can't think of any sport highlands has not excelled in at some time or another.

But your analysis has more to do with the offense and not the "senior" class per se. You said senior class and there are quite a few seniors plying their trade on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe some of them need to see some time on the offensive side as well.

Everything that you just described there was about the offense, was it not? You did not say the offense was manhandled, you said Highlands was manhandled. Thought the defense did a yeoman's job to keep the came as close as they did. You are right that work needs to be done in more ways than one.

Just because of that word I can't like this post enough. If you wonder why, my avatar will give it away lol

I haven't paid attention to Cooper in the past so I don't know how to compare them. They seem to be a very good team.

The defense for Highlands last year wasn't great and hasn't seemed to improve. However, the offense seems to be significantly worse. 1 offensive TD?

They haven't improved? They would have had to pitch a shutout to win this game, you do realize that right? The last two scores were drives that totaled less than 40 yards combined. Everyone that knows football can see what needs to be shored up and it is not so much the defense.

Will Cooper have a hang-over after this big win?? They have had success before but this group of kids haven't flown this high? Will Borchers keep them tethered to ground...? they have some tough teams to play and steep playoff order in 6A.

Impact player? What does that have to do with anything. We had this discussion about how HHS acted when they lost the 7 on 7 at Ryle to LexCath. You tried to put your spin on it then. Here they are being accused of it again! That's twice joat. Stop defending it and fix it. Accepting it and excusing it is as bad as the behavior itself.

Oh please. Tired of your righteous talk on here. You worry about your kid and let everyone else worry about there own. Easy to take shots and accuse when you were not there and are going off of what you heard. If you want to believe that all opponents of HHS are innocent little kids, then you need to get a clue.

One thing that keeps running through my head is this.... But before I say it, let it be clear that I have the utmost respect for HHS and their program and what they've done. I also truly enjoy many of their fans in here and like to think of many as close BGP friends. So this in no way is a shot at HHS at all. But this is what keeps running through my head....

The words that kept being told to Cooper fans in 2012 was if they would have played HHS that year that would of prepared them to win state that year. And also "Highlands is #1 in NKY until someone knocks them off" "NKY teams are afraid of HHS"

Well I'm pretty dang proud of my Jaguars this morning and after only 7 years and 2 regional championships they should no longer be under the radar like they have been every single year.

Also let it be known that Cooper is the only NKY team with a winning record against Highlands lol. I can enjoy that for at least another year. :)

I I wonder how many teams in KY have a winning record against HHS?

Six with several others holding an even record:

Caldwell County (1-0)

Glasgow (1-0)

Henderson (1-0)

Flaget [Louisville] (1-0) Although 'had' might be more correct.

St. X [Louisville] (4-2)

Shelbyville (1-0)

Look, I understand that you are going to be very defensive of your team and manhandled is a pretty strong word, but this was not as close as you try to make it out to be. A terrible punt/coverage kept Highlands in this game. Defensively, Cooper did what they wanted with Highlands O. Manhandled may not be the right word, but for the first time in a long time Highlands got it taken to them.

Highlands will be ok, they may struggle a little bit but by playoffs they will have it figured out. Cooper played good D, forced turnovers and won by controlling the game from start to finish

Again we are talking about the offense getting manhandled. I would hardly say that the defense got manhandled in any way. Did a great job to keep it close with the HOPE of somehow finding magic in a bottle.

I don't think they will

have a hangover after this win. Borchers will always keep them grounded. If anyone gets to feeling a bit good about themselves Borchers will knock them back down to earth. He did this already in the game yesterday when one of their star players had a penalty you could hear Borchers letting him have it all the way up at the press box as he took the kid out and made him sit the rest of the series. No one is bigger than the team and Borchers always makes sure of that.

This weeks game is big rivalry for Coach Borchers and as a Player you don't want to let him down. So I don't think they will carry this win any further than today. Once preparations start for week 2 opponent they realize they still have 14 more games to reach their goal.

Thank you! I was curious about this. A team and program

as great as Highlands I expected a short list like that. What a great program.

No prob. I got curious as well after you brought it up. Though it should be seven as Cooper just joined those ranks. Or it remains six if you don't count Flaget because the school no longer exists.

For the time it lasts...may only be a year, I just lIke the NKY bragging rites of being the only NKY team.

Sounds like they have really coach

Love coach Borchers. What he's done in the first 7 years of the school is amazing. If Dale was still coaching I think he'd be in Coach Borchers fan club too.

Just fun to watch the adjustments the team makes from year to year depending on the talent they have. It's never the same.

Anyone who hasn't read the article yet about the game. To show you what kind of nerves the Cooper first time QB had in the game last night.

After his his first play from

scrimmage, tossing a 82 yard TD pass, he came over to

the sidelines and proceeded to

throw up 3 times.

I love that!!!!!!!

Joat relax and quit taking all these posts as personal attacks to the HHS defense. To anyone that was there, it was obvious that the HHS O put the D in some bad situations. Three and outs, turnovers, and short fields will result in giving up points. I thought the D played reasonably well. Some better tackling on the edge and it would have been an even better effort.

The O has playmakers. Kendall and Cain proved last year that they can make things happen. Kendall needs to get a hole to run through. He needs to be in space to make kids miss and use his speed. Cain needs the ball. HHS has to figure out a way to get it to him on the move, then watch out. Last nights playbook was paper thin and very few things worked. Credit - Cooper defense.

For those discrediting Cooper's effort by saying they were not even top 10 in Northern Ky this year - well that poll was as incorrect as HHS being unanimous #1 . HHS has plenty of work to do while Cooper needs to springboard off this win to bigger and better things.
