Well, I haven't been around Kentucky football for a lifetime, but I saw Alexander play, he was a phenom for sure.....I saw Carlos Snow play at Cape, just a monster at that level of football, he punished opponents. Best by far I saw was Roger Craig, Daventport Central, Iowa... We were seniors the same year. We had a bye and our coach told us to cross the river and watch him play.....We were not let down.. He had 9 carries 7 TD's 300 yds. in a rout. He went on to Nebraska and of course the 49ers! What a player.

...Ryan Timmons...

Timmons was one of those kids in high school who you were almost disappointed when he didn't score, just because it always seemed like he could. I saw him play twice and the first time was against Anderson County when he ran back the kickoff and the final buzzer to win the game. Just before Anderson kicked it I told my father, "if Timmons gets it, he'll score" and sure enough he did. Great high school player!

Shaun Alexander' date=' no one else was close.[/quote']

Shaun Alexander without question is the best I've ever seen play at the high school level. On the KY side of the river Jared Lorenzen and Gino Guidugli were special players in their own right and really fun to watch. On the OH side of the river Marc Edwards from Norwood then Notre Dame and later the Patriots hands down was the best. Carlton Gray from Forest Park then UCLA and later the Seahawks is up there as well. Honorable mention would have to be Brian Pillman (RIP) and Carlos Snow because I saw them do things on the football field that no human their size should be able to do and at times completely defied the laws of physics.

I'm too young to have seen him play at NCC, but as a life long Notre Dame fan I remember his touchdown catch against WVU in the '89 Fiesta Bowl. He was huge and from what I've heard, a tremendous athlete. It seems he never quite fulfilled his potential at ND. It's hard to catch many passes as a TE when your offense runs the option.

And the #1 Tight End is a future first round pick. Who knows what would have happened but in the 3rd or 4th game the next season he broke his ankle and just stuck w/ baseball where he set ND's single season HR record. I believe that he made it to the AA level in the Met's system.

My cousins all went to Davenport Central and they still rave about Craig to this day.
