I had the good fortune at ST.Pius to coach young Aiden Ruthsatz when he first moved to the area. That year began the "rivalry" between he, AJ Mayer and a scrappy blonde headed guard for Conner MS named Adam Kunkel. Ironically, Conner also had a big kid who eventually grew to 7-feet & will be playing at Xavier next year. These four & their teammates, a bunch of other good players, proceeded to have great NKMSAA battles over a (3) year period. At the time, Pius & Conner were in same district, thus played multiple times. Each has had turns getting the better of the others. To see the progress they have made in the last 7 years is unreal. My hats off to them & thanks for all the hard work & entertainment provided. Good luck fellas. Go Colonels.

Bummed for all involved with Newport program. Have to look at it as a good year even though they left a little meat on the bone. As someone said earlier, HC does not pass the eye test, but they play well together. Congrats to them "Play for Clay". Newport will have (3) solid, experienced Seniors next year, looking forward to another fun ride. Go (blue) Colonels !

Been to most Newport games this year & a good sampling of CCH games; would love to see them on Monday. One game at a time though. McKell & CJ on floor together would be a treat, no matter what the outcome.

Dixie hit some early 3's in the first meeting allowing them to dictate pace. Once CovCath hit go ahead 3's in the 3rd quarter, they were able to play at their speed. Dixie has to keep it slow & close, hoping blue Colonels tighten down the stretch. I'm calling Dixie will get an "A" for effort, but come up short in the end. 52-45 BLUE .

Newport has the talent to take this one. Question is . . . have they matured enough to compete for the full (4) quarters. Hall lit them up in 1st meeting. 2nd meeting, Newport contains Hall, but NCC center had terrific game.

Newport goes 14/14 on FTs Great contribution from the Williams brothers. Burries, Harding, Miller are talented players that have made steady improvement all year. Newport is fun to watch. Next hurdle . . . NCC.

Played Elks Run & GlenView the past (2) Saturdays. Scheduled for Fairfield Glen this Saturday. Dating back to final score last November, I've now shot (3) 82's in a row. My goal this year is more scores in the 70's than 90's. Last year 2-70's, 24-80's, 6-90's. Got to turn that around.

Yes he did. As a face up player, not a back to the basket guy. My point being, a 6-10 guy is not going to make it in the NBA as an old style center. Needs to expand his game. He cannot do so with no other post player help, or coaching that insists he dunks everything. Crazy thought . . how about an inside/out pass.

I believe he's forced to play the 5, since there are no other legitimate post guys. (at least not to the standards over past years)

That has not been proven. He's knocked down a few 10-12 footers, but rarely takes them, having been told to "dunk everything".

I agree he is a top 20 caliber talent, but his stock has slipped more than risen. For a coach whose #1 aspiration is to make millionaires out of his players & improve their families lives, I see him not doing Bam any favors. IMO

All of which have 2-3 inches on him. Bam will need to be more of a PPat type player in the NBA. He's not getting that exposure as is.

Bam does not make top 60 CBS Sportline NBA prospect list. Coach Cal not doing him any favors playing him as a post-up #5 man.

As Clyde mentioned, Luke Lenihan hit 2 big 3-pointers in the 3rd qtr to give CovCath a lead & thus they could dictate tempo. Lenihan replaced Nowak early on; he missed a couple open 3's in the first half that would have put CovCath up earlier. Great job Lenny bouncing back. Shreck was fantastic in 1st half controlling the speed of play favoring Dixie.

2nd game in a row McGuire out for Newport. They're going to need him back & contributing to have any chance v. Highlands in districts. Team is not deep enough to overcome losing one of its four key players.
