I'm hoping the next coach will make sure the 3rd string DE or the 2nd string Kickoff member will feel as vital to the TEAM as the starting RB, or QB, both on the field and in the school hallways. It will take a group effort (one for all / all for one) to knock off HHS.

That's saying a lot. Next years class shows very good promise, but remember this year's team is 17-0 with two top players on JV (Ruthsatz, Mayer)

My thoughts exactly walking out tonite Clyde. McDonald was gassed by mid 3rd Qtr. Post entry turnovers because he could not meet his passes, Coach R and college court size a good combo for Colonels, Both are here to stay too, bodes well for future.

This is the year of the Horse. Actually, it's the Chinese year of the Goat! And we all know CovCath HS is the G.O.A.T. Even so, NCC by 7. Coach R. will however master a plan to turn the table come Regionals.

Glad to see RA Jones having some success. Sounds like the Big/Small division is good for them. I know they've struggled in years past. Hopefully, this new set up will encourage more kids to play & even more so, will encourage those who do play, to work at their games knowing goals can be reached.

TAC . . . Kudos to you for coaching the "non A-team players". I agree many can continue playing in high school. Two of my most rewarding coaching seasons were 7th/8th grade "B" teams. I had a kid a few years back who started varsity by Sr. year. He scored the 1st ten points of a game in the 9th region tourney that year. Another kid has played 4 yrs. at UL on the men's practice squad that scrimmages the women's team regularly. The UL women have been very successful over last 4 yrs. He's gotten a few perks out of the deal (gear, trips, etc.)

Dirty T . . . For some unknown reason, this league does not keep tract of standings during the season. When there is about a week or two left, the directors will request from each school their win-loss records in order to seed the tourney. They've been doing it this way for awhile. Why? not sure!

I wouldn't go to "smash Highlands", but with no dog in the fight, I do like Conner a little better than Highlands. Keep an eye out for Camp Ernst & Summit View on the 7th grade level too.

No. I am correct, Conner & Pius played in both 6th & 8th grade championships last year. Anyway, Conner 7th beat Pius last night by 4. Conner up big most of game, Pius makes late run to cut it to 2. Don't know who the kid is (#1 I think for Conner), but made to NBN free throws to seal the deal. Kudos to that young man, short in stature, big in guts. Conner did good job bottling up Mayer. IMO, still 2 best teams at that grade level.

Agreed. Case in point . . . CVH. Helluva footballer now concentrates on Bball. Would that be the case if CCH were still mediocre to good as in just prior to Coach R. Colonels 65-49.

Follow up game, Holmes v. CCH in 2013 regional final wasn't too shabby either. But yes, Ruthsatz half court shot game gets my vote.

Yes. All teams make regional. (14 teams - big school). IMO, the tourney should be cross-seeded (east v. west). The two best teams could be in same division, yet not play in championship game. For example, Conner & St.Pius were two best teams in both 6th & 8th grades last year. They played in Championship games. Under current set up, that would not be possible. Hopefully, they will change that by end of year (?)

Info I have for Big School tourney shows Championship games 2/14. East Division winner v. West Division winner. #1 seed gets bye in each division, then 2v.7, 3v.6, 4v.5.

Good point NKyBfast on defense switch creating better help side defense. I didn't see it as WHO was guarding Dre; it was more the technique that changed. CVH started the game face guarding, a method he's had success with (Bolden). Dre's slashing early on beat that. was going north/south, whereas Bolden seems to have a more perimeter (east/west) game. Awesome to see how much stronger / confident Theobald has gotten. Kudos to Aiden R, taking over the OT in JV game.
