July 26, 201511 yr Does the interpreter get traded also? I'm pretty sure that interpreter works for Chapman and helped out with Cueto. He was Brought to Cincinnait as Chapmans personal interpreter I believe.

July 26, 201511 yr The Reds did very well. Now you never know if the guys are going to workout in the long run but I think they did pretty good for a rental player. I will be rooting hard for Cueto come playoff time. No doubt Reds HOFer.

Unless they got a possible Cy Young winner or a great position player, no one they get in a trade for Cueto would be a good deal. It is what I said at the beginning of the season. You can't trade one of the best pitchers in the game and expect to get equal value in return. It is why a salary cap is needed in MLB.
July 26, 201511 yr 3 promising lefty pitchers is better than 1 compensatory pick. I think some underestimate the stud that Finnegan could be. Here are some of his highlights from his debut run last season with KC. He's nasty even if he's our next closer. At least he's very close to a sure thing with some proven success more so than just about anyone else we would've recieved. The other two are icing on the cake. What they got today is 10000x better than what they would've got had they not traded him.

As a Cardinal I wish they would have kept him. They did very well with this trade. Just like with any fan base not all are going to be happy.

However, in the current system they appear to have gotten good value and much better than a compensatory pick and a few wins in the 2d half to keep us above the Brewers.

His motion features a balanced takeaway but some deceleration in his weight-transfer and a stabbing arm action that flashes warning lights for timing and command. He generates some deception from a high front shoulder and cross-body/slingshot elements to the delivery, though he got quick to his release point at times. It should be taken with a grain of salt on account of the one-inning nature, but in his appearance at the Cal-Carolina League All-Star Game his fastball sat 95–98 (and touched 99) with boring action. The pitch exploded down in the zone, and he backed it up with a tight slider that showed late two-plane darting action at 89–91. It was a premium combination that was tough to pick up out of his hand and made for a particularly uncomfortable at-bat for left-handed hitters.
July 26, 201511 yr The little kid in me is sad today. I know the Redlegs are small market and cannot hold on to their superstars. This business deal HAD to be made for the good of the company which is the Cincinnati Reds. Cueto deserves to go make as much money for his family as he can. The old man in me understands this well, he's just going to have to console that little kid in me. Please explain "small market " taking into consideration they have had the highest payroll in their division.
