July 19, 201511 yr Probably his last ever start at GABP today. A real bummer he's going to go out as a Red like this.
July 19, 201511 yr Author What do you mean exactly? Just because he's leaving via trade? Yeah basically. Wish they could have been good this year and he could do damage in the playoffs like he never has with this team.
July 19, 201511 yr Cueto value going down with every pitch today. Why is he still wearing a Reds uniform.
July 19, 201511 yr Cueto value going down with every pitch today. Why is he still wearing a Reds uniform. Not even a little bit. If something crazy happened and he got hurt then yeah but one game means nothing. He just threw a CG 2 hitter so by your logic he would have got Mike Trout in return at that point. July 19, 201511 yr Author Cueto value going down with every pitch today. Why is he still wearing a Reds uniform. I don't think his value hinges on this one game. Plus he's battling, especially after an hour rain delay he's been Ok.
July 20, 201511 yr Cueto value going down with every pitch today. Why is he still wearing a Reds uniform. No team paid attention to today and said to themselves, "maybe we shouldn't trade for him". Gonna miss him, even thought he got games over to quick for my wallet sometimes haha!
July 22, 201511 yr After today, is Leake "at this moment" more valuable than Cueto? Yes, Leake brings you more in a trade than Cueto will IMO.
July 22, 201511 yr Actually, if that is true, then it's better news for the Reds. Leake is peaking now. If Cueto is considered more valuable even after the bad start against the Indians, then maybe the Reds can get something good in trading both of them. I was curious if the other owners are looking at "the body of work" or "what has he done for me lately" (in regards to Cueto).
July 22, 201511 yr Cueto will bring more in trade value than Leake, no doubt about it. That being said...and I'm sure I'll get lit up like a Christmas tree for saying this...if the Reds signed either one as a FA, I'd rather have them sign Leake. Not because he's a better pitcher than Cueto...but, because he'd cost much less and you're much more likely to get your money's worth out of him. I think you could put him in that number 3 or 4 slot and forget about him for the next 5 years, and he'll eat up 200 innings each year. And with the youngsters we've got right now, and the likelihood of Homer being injury-free for an entire season...that's worth something.
July 22, 201511 yr Author It's that time of year where "unamed sources" come up with "injury" speculation. Anything a source talks about fear of him being injured take it with a grain of salt. People are just trying to install fear and bring the asking price down.
