Johnny Cueto

Featured Replies

I don't buy that. Cueto's body of work speaks for itself, and in the last 30 days, he has thrown 32 innings (3 quality starts) with a 2.25 ERA & 0.97 WHIP. It's not like he has been struggling.

I honestly believe those who are casting doubt on Cueto are doing so anonymously in an effort to cool the market for him.

IMO it's that injury tag that follows Cueto, whether fair or not. He's been on the DL this year, he was skipped in the rotation recently and he had one of his worst performances in recent memory last outing. If I'm paying top dollar to rent Cueto he better pitch every 5th day and into October.

I'm pretty sure Cueto wasn't DL'd this season. They skipped a start, but that's about it.

You're right. He missed 2 starts at the end of May but never went to the DL. That was also the time I was thinking he was skipped so really he's only missed the 2 starts this year in May.

Cueto was not on the DL this year and, as far as I'm concerned, is not an injury risk. Cueto has had one injury, which was an oblique type of injury that occurred in the 2012 playoffs. It affected him at the start of the next season and basically ruined that entire 2013 season (not unusual given the nature of that type of injury). He has been fine since then, with the exception of one or two missed starts 2+ months ago.

2011: 156IP (On the DL to start the season, came back in May then didn't finish the season)

2012: 217IP

2013: 60IP

2014: 243IP

So yeah he can be your bulldog, but any team who ignores that he hasn't put up back to back 200IP seasons and also missed two starts this year to get his elbow checked out is foolish.

I'd agree for those looking to sign him as a FA. Less concerned for a team that wants him as a rental player.

The big piece is OF Aaron Judge. He's a monster, like 6'7" 250.

Saw him at the Futures Game. He is ridiculously tall. No idea if that translates to anything in baseball, but he looks odd out there.

He's pretty similar in stature as Stanton and he moves pretty well and is fluid in the field. He has struggled a bit in the power department but has showed good plate discipline since moving up to AAA. I can't see the Yankees moving him with how he is handling AAA and with how much his stock is rising.

If the Reds trade Phillips, Suarez will move to second.

That is scary.

Looked decent tonight. Is 4 hit 0ER thru 8 IP good? Asking for @plantmanky

Didnt see the game, too busy swimming in @Hellbird pool. Sounds like he had a good night, considering he was told he was traded before the game starts.

Was just getting ready to post the same thing after seeing the At Bat alert. I have to think the Astros aren't done.

Being an Astros fan I have to believe we are looking for a 1st baseman. Ours are absolutely TERRIBLE! We also have a weakness at 3rd & catcher but we need the most help at 1st. We have Jed Lowrie coming back from the DL and we as Astros fans are hoping to God Lowrie can play and HIT and play a corner infield position.

Reports on Twitter is deal is done to Royals.

national news broadcasts now reporting on a Cueto to Royals deal being completed. Can't find what the Reds are getting in return anywhere you.
