(BB) Louisville takes 2 / 3 from Clemson

Cards dropped GM 1 SAT with Funkhouser on the bump. Didn't pitch great and they jumped on him early.

 

GM 2 was a splendid performance from McKay on the hill and some timely late hitting, including a HR by Corey Ray. Burdi shut down a threat with a backwards K of the 1st batter he faced to end the 8th. Hit 101 on the scoreboard gun. Got to see it on FoxSports South.

 

GM 3 saw Cards jump out to a lead thanks to 2 R HR from McKay in the 1st. Pushed it to 4-0 and then Clemson mounted the comeback. Rogers wriggled off of multiple hooks, but eventually gave up some runs. His 0-2 pitches were way off. Clemson made solid contact and got hits on numerous 0-2 counts. That cannot happen on a waste pitch. Tigers went up 5-4 in the 7th and the Cards were definitely on the ropes.

 

Solak & Ray got them off the ropes and back in the match with solo HRs to lead off the 8th. Cards played add-on from there and Henzman was sparkling with 2.1 shutout innings to close it out.

 

8 straight ACC series wins and 10 straight overall series wins since Arkansas State took 2/3 from the Cards in GA back in FEB!

 

Cards go for the season sweep at UK tomorrow before a titanic series with Florida St. over the weekend at Jim Patterson Stadium!!!

I will be at all 3 this weekend. Would be more fun if Winston was still on roster, but JPat should be rocking. I expect some roof dwellers down LF line, that's when you know it's good
