I just had a thought...if Beatty gets the gig in Arkansas, would Coverdale go with him? I mean, I imagine that Andrew Coverdale could have been a head coach if he wanted to be. Maybe he doesn't want to do that any more.

 

The money for Beatty would likely be six figures in Arkansas, he may be able to secure a teaching gig for several coaches and some decent money for them, as well. Bob Sphire was able to bring several of his assistants when he went to Georgia. I would bet the situation would be similar in Arkansas.

 

I wondered this myself. I believe Coverdale has family ties to the IN area. It's where he started coaching and I'm not sure where his kid(s) are. I don't know if I would be surprised either way. It is nice having Coverdale instate for coaching reasons.

I heard Noel Rash is looking for a new coaching job.

My gut says Specht will be on the short list. I would look for Cove to stay.

Some of you act like Trinity never won a state title before he got there. There were winning them way before he got there and they will win them long after we are all dead!!!

Did I miss something? Many in here are acting like he has the job if he wants it. You all don't know who else applied. I thought it said only a couple were in state applicants which means the majority of the applicants are from outside of Arkansas. That could also mean that coaches more succesful at bigger programs could have also applied.

 

If Beaty gets it, I wish him all the luck in the world but most of you all are acting as if it's a no brainer hire and you have no idea who else applied.

When I read the article posted by Jason Frakes, it struck me that he had interviewed/turned down other opportunities in the past. I'm a little surprised, but there are some opportunities that are hard to pass up or a bit more intriguing, and this opportunity in AK may just be one of them.

 

IF Beatty does take his talents to AK, it will be interesting to see how Louisville and 6A football will be effected.

Just bc he had a conversation w/ the school does not mean he is leaving, he has spoken to other schools in the past & has not left, just wait & see how it plays out. I just don't see this as being as big of a deal as most unless he actually left. Until that happens I don't worry about this kind of stuff.

I ask because Covington Catholic got rid of their football coach this year and supposedly a big part of the reason why is he interview/applied for some other jobs in the past few off seasons. How does Trinity view Beatty considering other jobs?

Not a Trinity fan but I think it's comparing apples to oranges.

 

One is a very successful coach with state titles under his belt, and from what I know, there is not much turmoil between the coach and school/players/parents. The other had did not have a state title and his team seemed to have fell apart at times this past year, and then he had a lot of turmoil.

 

If you are winning state titles and also have a good relationship with the bosses/players/parents, you tend to have more leeway. He is not applying to get away from a problem either.

Very true. But many Shamrocks remember the drought from 94 until we got #13 in 2001. I know some schools would look at it differently, but it was weird to have a a few classes graduate never having watched their classmates win state.

As I stated, I know Coach Beatty has "spoken" to other schools in the past and obviously has stayed. There's nothing wrong with speaking to other schools occasionally just to reassure what you currently have is the best possible situation for you & your family. I do not have a problem with it, Beatty has given Trinity A LOT & Trinity has certainly taken care of him as well, he's been there quite awhile now, I believe 14 years now, and I hope for quite awhile longer.
