IHM 8th grade beat Highlands to finish the night in Ft. Thomas.

Exciting 8th grade game between Highlands and IHM. Birds struggled most of game converting bunnies and FT's but fought back to force OT after trailing bu as many as 10pts late in the game. Eventually lose 44-43 in OT. Coldiron has some nice looks offensively. The IHM guards though hit some big buckets. Overall a good game for the fans. Congrats to the Saints. Bryson Jones hitting 3 3's was huge for IHM. IHM also did a much better job from the charity stripe. I will give Highlands credit for not giving up when IHM had them down 10 in the second half. This game is a perfect example of how just about every game will be in the league this year.

What was the score in the Beechwood/Bracken County game? I expect Beechwood to have a lot of pretty lopsided wins playing in the small school division of the NKMSAA... I think that if they played all of their 8th graders on the 8th grade team, they have the talent (particularly if Schilling returns) to play with anyone in either division...

 

I don't remember the score. It was a blowout, then Beechwood put their subs in and Bracken County cut it to 6 I think, then Beechwoods subs went in and passed the ball around till the clock expired.

Heard HMS 6th & 7th beat IHM pretty handily tonight.

 

Missed the 6th grade game. Jacob Brass had a huge game for the 7th grade, and Salter and Huddleston dominated the glass. Once the 7th grade starts hitting shots more consistently, watch out. Great effort on defense and very unselfish, maybe too unselfish at times.

Glad to hear our Rossford Park partner had a huge game! He certainly works at it! Congrats young Brass!

Conner 6th wins by 15 over IHM. The guards for Conner played much better and the pressure on the ball was better too. Conner 6th has Turkeyfoot, Woodland, and Beechwood this week. Beechwood game is a scrimmage only but should be a good one.

 

Conner 7th won too. Game was closer than expected as the Colts had some turnovers in the 2nd half and IHM made free throws.

 

Conner 8th lost another close one to IHM. Coldiron and Becker were very good down low and Conner just didn't have enough height to keep up with them.

IHM sweeps Twenhofel.

St Plus and Highlands split the 6th and 7th grade games. Maile owned the 7th grade game. Very skilled and athletic to go with his strength. HMS won the 6th grade grade game grade game by 13. Didn't catch the 8th grade game but did catch warmups. Kid from St Plus threw down a dunk with height to spare. Very impressive hops.

Nick Thelen is the Pius 8th grade big guy. His sister plays volleyball for Penn State. Very athletic family.
