What is with the big division school separate from the small division school? They will all be playing against each other in high school! What competition is that teaching the small division schools when they play each other all year and middle school years then have to go against big schools come high school? NO PREPARATION=NO SUCCESS

I think it's mainly for scheduling purposes and competitive balance. There are nearly 30 teams and splitting it by size is probably the best way to do it to insure competitive balance and gives each team a home and home with every other team in their division. Competitively, with 3 teams per school, the talent gets spread really thin in the smaller middle schools (and even sometimes in the larger schools, especially with the girls teams). So while yes these kids will play each other in high school, at that level it's a combination of classes that make up a team. With such talent disparities because of numbers, you'll have more huge blowouts, that neither team gets anything out of.

Good point, but dont really get the reasoning behind it, now it enables big schools to monopolize the talent in the Nky area, wich leaves the small school division players looking for a little more than district, a little more than region a very small choice either "roll with us or get rolled on" Stay small school, hope that the talent stay, hope that small school division coaches is preparing for the bigger picture not just the here and now win, or if fortunate enough change schools to go join or follow the "wolf pack" unsuccessfully sometimes just to get a little exposure or just your piece of the Nky bball pie! It would be great if all schools played all. Some of these small division schools are better than the bigger but switch come high school to get exposure. Come on Nky we have more players than we produce we should have more state titles in this area, Thanks to those schools who have brought it back to the Nky!

I believe the 7th grade player from St Agnes is Neil Green. He has a great upside, and could become a really good player. He is tall and very athletic. He high points rebounds, and is relentless at going after the ball. Offensively, he is very good around the basket, and can score from a variety of angles - uses the backboard well. Once he gets stronger and develops a 10 - 15 ft jump shot, he will be hard to stop. Has a very quick and long first step to blow by defenders in the paint area.

 

Will he be a CovCath kid?

Beechwood 6th was supposed to play them Tuesday and they cancelled. I have no idea why?

I believe the newport 6th grade had some players that got in trouble and weren't allowed to play. I have no idea about the circumstances or situation. The newport 7th is undefeated and will probably run the table if they stay healthy. They have one of the top 7th grade players in the region, caleb jefferson, and they have enough athletes in the other positions to dominate the small school division.

Yes - they will be a good combo. They are also very good baseball players too.

Beechwood 6th beat Bellevue in a regular season game by 36pts this morning. Beechwood 6th also played IHM in the Ft. Thomas tournament this evening and beat them by13pts. IHM was missing their pg who was sick. Beechwood didn't play that well imo either.
