Beechwood 6th is playing in the St. Ignatius Tournament over in Cincinnati. They beat Visitation in the first round of the tournament today. Beechwood was up by 22 in the third quarter and called the dogs off. Should be a fun tournament.

Sir, who and when does St. Mary's play next? I believe someone said it was double elimination, correct?

I had my groups wrong. Gray plays St. Mary's and Ockerman plays Turkeyfoot. I not sure if they play on Monday or Tuesday...I think the games are on Tuesday.

If you are talking 8th Grade, St. Joe really just has one decent player (Duffy). The team is very similar to St. Mary's. Very on and off team.

I will respectfully disagree, St. Joe has a nice group of 5 players who all play extremely hard and are well coached. Their spacing is very good for an 8th grade team and they play well together. They beat Highlands in the Dayton Tournament by 9 and Duffy really wasn't a factor. Like I said, they just played well as a team and had greater intensity.

Ok.....we are 1/2 way thru the school seasons. Gimme your top players in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. If you don't know the name of the kid, list his school or jersey #.

3rd time is a charm...

Here is the 8th grade boys Turkeyfoot schedule:

Ockerman vs St. Mary's Monday at 4pm

Gray vs Turkeyfoot Monday at 5:10pm

The winner of these two games face each other on Tuesday at 6:20

Conner vs Beechwood Friday at 4PM, the loser of this game plays the winner of the Tuesday game at 6:20 pm on Friday.

That brings us to the championship game on Saturday 11:15 am, the winner of the Conner vs Beechwood game vs the winner of the 6:20 pm Friday game.

Beechwood has played Conner before, Beechwood won. Conner didn't have two of their starters at full strength, both have been playing better the past couple of weeks. I know Beechwood had one of their starters out too.

Thanks

Kind of supports what I originally said: up and down team. Must have been down game for Highlands too. St joey usually very average.

Among 8th grade teams in the moms as there is tremendous parity in my opinion. Holmes, highlands, woodland, IHM, St.Pius, Gray, Campbell County, Conner, beechwood, could all beat each other on any given day.... And other than thelen at St.Pius and Rankin at Gray I would be reluctant to identify any other school's best player. I hop the teams stay this balanced through high school, would make for some interesting basketball, but I think right now CovCath, with Thelen from at. Pius and. Cold iron

From the Large school division. Although I have not seen Turkeyfoot or Holmes play yet this season, or the Parochial schools outside of St. Pius & IHM, everyone else I have. There are quite a few good, solid basketball players not mentioned here, but if I was putting together an AAU team from NKY, I would start with this pool of players.

8th grade boys

Bigs (4&5): Thelen St. Pius

Coldiron IHM

Rankin Gray

Bromwell Gray

Schumate Summit V

T. Huston Woodland

Duffy have not seen play this yr. St. Joe

Guards (1&2) Krohman (2) Twenhofel

Sergeant (1) Twenhofel

Jones (1or2) Walton

R Williams Holmes

There are 2 or 3 good kids from Highlands and a couple from CC. The new Kid from Campbell C, maybe # 15. Can't recall his number, is pretty good that I would put on the list above.

7th Grade - Mayer (Pius), Jefferson (Newport), Kremer (St Marys), Tayvon (Tichneor), Hicks (Conner), Bowles (Conner), Diskin (Blessed Sacrament), Green (St Agnes), Gross (Camp Co), Moser (St Joes), Salter (Highlands), Huddleston (Highlands), Bieger (Beechwood)

I am not sure of the names, but a couple kids from Summit View could be added to this list; and a big kid from Holmes that keeps getting better every time I see him play.

I get the compiling of the best players from the NKMSAA, but if you were going to create the best 8th grade AAU team from Northern Kentucky, there are a few kids who are in the 8th grade, but not playing 8th grade... best example being Dontae Allen at Pendleton (averaging double digits varsity), but also Schilling and Castleman at Beechwood, Casey McGinnis (Blessed Sacrament - doesn't play school ball), Ohmer Woodland/Scott ....

Don't forget if you are making an Aau team the rules have changed and all the hold backs have to play kids their age now. I know half the 7th graders mentioned have to play 14u. They played 12u last year. Aau will be much more interesting this year as far as the George hills and Texas 2020 teams. Just look at the beechwood team 6th grade (Bulls)team I heard they lost 4 kids. Best rule change ever made. The hold backs should be forced in middle school to play up where they belong. They best 6th grader around is at Holmes Tez is 11 could be playing 5th grade. The best 7th grader number 15?shooting or point guard is at turkey foot. The big kid in 7th grade at Holmes treyshawn? Has never played til this year the softest hands and will battle inside. The future is bright for him. Trying to judge kids in middle school league is a waste of time they are playing against inferior talent half the time.

Not sure which 7th graders you think have to play U14, but I know that at least 9 of them are still eligible to play U13. I am not familiar with the 7th grade Turkey foot player. Who does he play aau for?
