They played in pool play today and HMS won by 12 or 13.. HMS is too quick..

Newport middle looks good aside from being in small school division. Are they undefeated??

 

I believe the newport 6th grade had some players that got in trouble and weren't allowed to play. I have no idea about the circumstances or situation. The newport 7th is undefeated and will probably run the table if they stay healthy. They have one of the top 7th grade players in the region, caleb jefferson, and they have enough athletes in the other positions to dominate the small school division.

 

Have been told by multiple people that Newport's 7th grade group is really good.

They are. They have a stud PG. Great BBall IQ

Good point, but dont really get the reasoning behind it, now it enables big schools to monopolize the talent in the Nky area, wich leaves the small school division players looking for a little more than district, a little more than region a very small choice either "roll with us or get rolled on" Stay small school, hope that the talent stay, hope that small school division coaches is preparing for the bigger picture not just the here and now win, or if fortunate enough change schools to go join or follow the "wolf pack" unsuccessfully sometimes just to get a little exposure or just your piece of the Nky bball pie! It would be great if all schools played all. Some of these small division schools are better than the bigger but switch come high school to get exposure. Come on Nky we have more players than we produce we should have more state titles in this area, Thanks to those schools who have brought it back to the Nky!

 

Great points bballplayer! If the small schools get a good class or two in, it makes it hard for them to develop as a team during the year when in most games against smaller schools they struggle to find reasons to keep starters in...leads to better players developing bad habits too (poor shot selection/execution and subpar effort from kids who excel in AAU). I don't know the answer...I think it is AT LEAST to invite the top 2-3 small schools into the big school regionals. can't cause anyone harm, can it?

Beechwood needs to beat CCMS before they can get a rematch. Beechwood definitely has a chance they just have to have a different game plan next time around.

Highlands 8th lost to Holmes 32-31 (Birds must have missed 10 FT's and a few of those were front ends) Gotta get scoring out of their guards but they should have beaten that Holmes team by atleast 10 pts. Congrats to the Holmes boys for coming back after being down 7 late in the game. Anthonly Greene hit a big 3 to put the Dogs up 3 under a minute to play. Highlands had their chances, missed front end of bonus with 3 sec left and then got ball back as it was deflected off Bulldog. Inbound went to Macke who got off a 12 footer that fell short.

Best game I've seen Will Downton play all year. Highlands Hergott and #25 I think, the PG, were very impressive. Very lackluster performance against IHM though. Game was close until the 4th quarter. Then a couple turnovers grew the lead. Hate that when there is only 2 minutes left the game is over pretty much. Kinda frustrating. But oh well, fun night of basketball!

Younger brother of Bulldogs stud soph Jaiden Greene. Have heard he's going to be a nice player for them.

Hezekiah Miller isn't a brother of the frosh Miller. He is the younger brother of Janice Stovall from Holmes girls varsity team this yr. He is related to the simpsons from Newport. (Dave Simpson).
