Nice game by the visiting Bluebirds tonight. I was impressed with the 6th grade team...their guards protected the ball and passed very well. Conner had 20+ turnovers but #14 had a good game for the Colts.

8th grade was fun to watch all though the Bluebirds pulled away in the 4th. The two guards for Conner carried the team in the 1st half but couldn't maintain their ability to score in the second. Starkey, Macke, King all played well.

Conner is good but not on the Birds level imo. I think there are only 2 teams that would give HMS a game and that is IHM and Beechwood. Too bad the middle school league stuck Beechwood in the lower division. Makes zero sense!!!

I am fairly confident that each school chose which division (large school or small school) they wanted to play in. [[/u]

No they didn't. Beechwood was penalized for not having 3 boys and 3 girls teams last year. So this year they were made to play in the lower divison by the league. Coach Goetz stood up in front of all of the parents during the parent meeting and let this be known. Lets just say he was not a happy camper.

So are you suggesting that Beechwood should be in the large school division because their 6th grade boys' team is very talented? What about the 7th and 8th grade teams? What about the girls' teams? You can't pick and choose where 1 team plays and penalize all the others.

IMO, the 6th and 7th grade boys' games at Conner last night were very well officiated. Both men did a great job.

Also, How about the attendance at these middle school games. Amazing how many butts are in the stands. Great job of supporting the kids by parents, grandparents, and students.

6-8th boys are all pretty competitive. For example the 6th grade team is very good and will probably beat every team in the lower divison by 20 or 30pts. Is that fair to the kids that had nothing to do with what went on last year? Why can't the girls play lower and the boys play upper?

7th grade is not very good, unless they've improved tremendously from last year. I understand why they'd play smaller. I don't know anything about their 8th graders.

I'm asking this b/c I don't know. When the boys play school A at home, are the girls playing the same school away? If so, then I can see why you have to declare the same level for the whole program.

The Highlands v Gray games were pretty packed.

A great crowd at Gray middle school last night.Gray 8th defeated Woodland by 3. The student section was very into the game and made it very enjoyable

I don't know. I had heard they were about.500 in the league last year.

I heard it wasnt the Birds best performance as I couldnt make the game but anytime you get a w in on the road its a plus. 43-32 I believe was the 8th Grade Final. Conner was missing their stud Aidan Camp though who was out with a concussion. He is a workhorse and I am sure was sorely missed in the lane.

Thank you lawildcat!

That video does not include any highlights from his performance at the D3 Nationals in Virginia... and there were a lot of highlights there, playing against very, very strong competition... he is so long, and his strides are so long, that he is deceptively fast end to end, and he really has a very strong handle and shoots it well.... I am already on record saying Mr. Basketball contender 2019.
