I was just stating what everyone agrees with and that is she was refusing to stop which means she was fleeing. That is all.

I have no experience jumping on hoods of moving vehicles, but a couple questions that I haven't seen an answer too (and there may not be one):

 

1) Was it ever said whether the officer had drawn his gun prior to jumping on the hood?

 

2) I would assume it'd be rather difficult to hold on to the car and pull his firearm without falling off. Is that an accurate assumption?

 

I ask this because people wondering why the car was put in reverse. Let's agree she was fleeing. Let's also agree she disobeyed his order to stop. Isn't a possible scenario that if he pulled his gun prior to jumping on the hood, that when he jumped on said hood, gun drawn, the girl panicked? I'm quite certain regardless of what I was doing or if I had been drinking, if someone, even a cop, pulls a gun on me I'm going to panic. :idunno: Just a possible "reason" for her putting it in reverse.

Acelerating past the policeman? Most cars when just moderatly acelerating can go 0 to 20mph in 10 seconds. At 20mph that puts the car approx 100 yds.(in just 10 seconds, not 20 or 30) away.Usain Bolt runs 100 mtrs in 9.4 +or-.(approx. 20mph) I feel that she stopped the car and put it into reverse not far from the crusier because she could have been stopping for the officer. I don't think it's possible to run down an acellerating car from behind, deholster your weapon and jump on the hood if the car that was aggresivly fleeing. Then the car backs almost into sight. I don't think she fled very far.

An officer shouldn't have problems drawing from the holster period. Really doesn't matter the position or which hand. They even practice with their off hand. A lot of holsters nowadays are double or retention so they typically practice this movement a lot because their or someone else's life may depend on it.

The deputy broke his ankle. I think it is safe to think his foot was run over before he jumped on the hood.

 

With that said, what caused the broken ankle. Was it from being run over by the car tire? Was it smashed between her car and the back of his cruiser as she drove off? However it was broke I would believe that was how he ended up on the hood. Either jumping up right after foot being run over as a defense mechanism and psychological reflex to get the weight off the foot etc.

You can get run over by a car tire and injure your ankle and not your foot. If you don't believe me I'd be willing to show you the scar on my ankle from being run over by a car tire.
