Anyone who says anything about shooting the tires out clearly has no sense whatsoever and any opinion they give should just be dismissed. Probably the most ludicrous idea ever. So if they shot the tires out which at 215 in the morning on a pitch black road is next to Impossible and she flips the car and kills them all, whose fault then? Just ridiculous.

I wonder if this witness from the car is one of the two who had warrants and were telling her to floor it??

What a sad situation all around. I do feel everyone is assigning too much "thought process" to each party. If all this really transpired in such a short amount of time, the girl (especially) likely acted out of confusion and possibly fear. It doesn't mean she intended to kill him.

 

The officer likely acted instinctively, but may have had a bit more control of his actions because of his training. But when the situation went south, it's reasonable to believe an element of emotion entered on his side of the situation as well (fear, confusion....maybe even anger). We're all only human. It doesn't mean he intended to kill her.

 

It's not often that I feel something happens and it's truly a tragedy without a "fault". At this point, this does seem to be one of those situations.

The officer may have done some things wrong, the girl definitely did some things wrong. I will go with whatever Sheriff Helmig says, he's an excellent lawman that I fully trust. I met him 20 years ago on the peewee football field.

It is, if the officer felt his life, and or that of another, we're threatened.

 

Quite frankly, drawing from the video, there is way to many unknowns. I could speculate this to death with results favoring the officer or the young lady. We just don't know. Yet it is a shame so many (not meaning BGP) are quick to pull the trigger themselves and conclude one way or another.

 

The Trayvon Martin case should have taught many a lesson. Not siding with the side of that outcome. Having said that, a high percentage of people are media corrupted into their opinions.

I find it hard to believe that a police officer would open fire on a young woman for no reason. In these circumstances, the girls friends and family can say whatever they want. The officer involved can't explain himself to the press.

 

This is sad for all involved. It will hopefully make more sense when all the facts are in.

I have a couple questions I'd love answered but unfortunately we will never know because the driver is no longer with us.

1 question being this.

 

Why did she put the car in reverse?

 

My speculation is this, and it is only speculation.

 

I am guessing when the deputy got his foot run over and broke his ankle , out of pure adrenaline he lept onto the hood again ordering her to stop. Instead of stopping she cranked the car in reverse hoping to throw him off the car...would she have run him over if successful to get away? we don't know, but neither did he and after ignoring the order to stop he did the only thing he thought he could do to stop the threat to his life.

 

Like I said, total speculation, but her putting the car in reverse raises a lot of questions that no one on here has asked yet. What we know is she wasn't stopping.

 

Could've been isntinctive reaction after taking a bullet to the chest. Fight or flight? I'd say she was fleeing to save her own life maybe.

She was fleeing already, long before the shot was fired. I would not say she was fleeing to save her own life, she was fleeing to save herself from possibly going to jail. I think everyone can agree with that. Her refusal to stop and continue fleeing is what led to her death unfortunately.
