Only prob I have with it all is the they continue to say the car was coming at him. He was beside the car and it was leaving/going away from him in the video?

 

That's what's got me wondering where his dash cam is mounted. If it's on the right hand side and she turns hard left trying to get away then that would put him up against his cruiser and her car. Again no way to know based on the video alone but it's something to consider.

What a sad and tragic incident this was/is. Finally got to see the video for the first time. In my mind, there is only three things that are absolutely certain.

 

1) The young men/women shouldn't have been at this field

2) The girl who died accelerated as the cop approached her and didn't stop when instructed

3) The cop exits the camera and almost a full minute later the tragedy occurs.

 

There is NO WAY anyone can say for certain what happened from the video. It seems a lot of people are wanting to put blame without proof. There is no audio (as of now) or footage that can prove what happened either way. My prayers go out to the girl's family and may they find the answers and peace they seek and may she rest in peace forever. My prayers also go out to the policeman and his family. Just a sad, sad story all around.

 

I'm glad there are several witnesses to gives us insight of what really happened.

What I find amazing about the reaction to this is that so many people are so sure that the officer was at fault, or the girl was at fault w/out all of the evidence being presented. The court of public opinion is a scary place.

The news stations certainly aren't helping the deputys case in the court of public opinion.

But really, at least on Facebook, this has turned into a socieo-economic debate. The have's favor the officer, the young have nots favor the girl. We know about 10% of what we need to know either way. 90% of it comes when we find out how and why the officer ended up on the hood.

I agree...and I didn't intend to detract from your point. People are easy to jump on one bandwagon or the other without sufficient facts. That is why that was the only post I could come up with, which was totally useless of course. :idunno:

Good post. I keep seeing people say they don't think the officer left his house that night intending to shoot anyone to death. The same could be said on the other side. I feel pretty confident this young lady didn't leaver her house that night intending to run over a cop. It is such a bad outcome. The thing I keep seeing over and over in my head is the anguish on those people that got out of the car after the shooting. So sad.

My prayers are with the girls family and the entire Boone County Sheriff dept family.

 

So sad and no one can ever put themselves in the frame of mind the deputy is going through right now.

I'm pretty sure all anyone wants to know is the truth. Let's hope everyone, especially those impacted most, find it out.

There are many more facts to come out about this. None of which help the girls case...

 

Terrible situation for both sides...

Some guy on Twitter tells me if I watch the 46 minute video I will see what happened. I haven't yet. Heading out to calls balls and strikes.
