Absolutely what happened off camera is the key. But on camera you see that the officer seems to be trying to stop her and she refuses and keeps driving and turning towards the officer and his car.

 

As far as intentionally I don't know nor do you. What I am saying is that if this happened as reported in the first post by Guru and she was sober there is no excuse on her part, she should have stopped. If she was impaired in some way It is a lot easier to understand that she may not have been able to make clear decisions.

 

Police officers don't put their life on the line by jumping on the hood of a car except in extreme situations, I don't think he just jumped up there to stop her. I think as others have mentioned she may have been about to pin him against his own cruiser and he jumped on her hood to keep from being killed.

No. Then it will lead everyone to wonder what she was thinking. She saw him twice and held eye contact for a couple of seconds. If that was the case, then she just didn't care. Either way, at that point the officer has no idea if she is sober or under the influence.

In the end she didn't have to have intent to kill to justify him using deadly force. She very well may have been just trying to run but when you hit a police officer with your car while you are running that changes the game.

She was in the car...and I it appears that she lied. I didn't say she was definitely a liar.

Agreed which is why I don't always believe eye witnesses in any situation. Some times they are reliable. Sometimes they aren't. Like I said before...I remember a girl who was supposedly in the car saying they didn't know he wanted them to stop...that's clearly not the case.

I agree that eye witnesses are very unreliable and that is proven in study after study. To many things influencing what they think they see. For example who knows what this witness was doing in the car to be distracted. She may very well believe that the officer never directed them to stop because she was distracted. But just because she didn't hear it doesn't mean the officer didn't direct them to stop.

You know all your silly comments on football and Simon Kenton and such. But man this is a bad situation where WE the public DO NOT know everything that went on and for you to get on here and to make a comment as such is profoundly idiotic. I am not call you an idiot, but this comment is idiotic. There has been a dash cam video that does not show everything. I am not going to try and figure it out. I feel bad for both parties involved and yes all of it could have been handled differently by all parties. I feel so bad for the family of this girl. I also feel bad for the officer, in a split second a decision he felt he had to make will haunt him for the rest of his life. As an observer I hope all the details and facts and maybe the audio will come out to clear everything up. AND if he did not act appropriate I hope justice will prevail for the girl and her family. BUT like someone else said earlier this could have ALL been avoided if the young woman would have just stopped and complied with the police officer.
