I watched the video, it in no way shows what happened that caused him to be on the hood of the car.

 

I'll guarantee he didn't just jump on the hood so he could shoot her.

You are probably correct, but then why did he jump on the car and then why did he shoot her. I cannot honestly answer either of those questions from the video. It is pretty clear she wasn't about to run over him from the video.

 

I don't know how you can guarantee anything.

Well I'd say that off camera she may have slowed or stopped again and the officer ended up closer to the front of the car and then she sped up again hitting him and he jumped on the hood to keep from being hit worse.

 

My guarantee was that no officer is willingly going to jump on the hood of a car with a broken/injured ankle to shoot someone if they have another choice. And also I don't think he went to work that night wanting to kill someone as many have implied. Or implied that he jumped on the hood just so he could shoot her.

A good lawyer will have a field day with this case. The officer didn't attempt to stop her till she was already entering the roadway, it would be reasonable to claim that she was just attempting to get in a safer spot before stopping. Also the officer had no reason to place himself in harms way, no one appeared to be danger and no known crime had been committed. Quite simply the cop should have stepped back took the plate number and called it in... All people live, and and the teens learn a valuable lesson.

The edited video looks much different than the raw video as far as time line goes...appears to be as much as 30 seconds from the time she pulls out of camera range until she backs up and wrecks as you can see the guy in the other car pointing at her car and steam/smoke coming from off screen on the left.

 

I think most are looking at it like he shot her as soon as they were out of camera range and I don't think that's how it went down.

I would agree he probably didn't want this to happen, no doubt. For his sake, I hope there is a lot more video evidence to justify what happened. A lot of things could have happened and obviously did, but we just don't know for sure what that was.

 

If he has a broken ankle did that happen before he jumped on the car or did he fall off after shooting or hook his foot jumping on the hood or did she she crash and fall off afterwards and break it? It didn't look like he was injured before he goes out of the video.

 

This is just sad on a lot of levels.

I agree with everyone else who has posted so far - this video is bad for the police officer. Car traveling at a very slow rate of speed. Officer off to the side of the car and then walks toward the driver side of the car to try and get her to stop. Nothing on the video helps the officer IMO.

 

I agree! Officer was on the side of the car and the car was going slow, he was still on the side of the car when she sped up, why did he jump on the hood of the car? The video doesn't help him one bit.

But if she was drunk and he lets her go without checking her (after all she was coming from a field party, good chance she may have been drinking) and she goes down the road and kills everybody in her car and maybe some in another car, everyone would be complaining that the officer let her go without checking her and did nothing to stop her.

Look at the raw video, on the same link...looks like there was nearly 30 seconds from the time she left the camera until she backs up and hits something on the side of the road. I don't think he's shooting her as soon as they are off of camera.

Finally got to see it. How anyone can be so sure one way or the other I don't understand. That video just led me to many more questions. I can't reach a conclusion without answers. Speculation does nobody any good.
