I have read several of the articles and I have not seen where it stated how many other officers where present. Does anyone know? The officer was responding to a call about a field party. My experience with field parties is typically a whole whole bunch of teenagers. You would think there would had been several officers and a plan in place for runners.

I have to disagree with you there. The officer was hit and on top of the good of the car. For a civil suit to say it was excessive force will fail. A motor vehicle is considered deadly force and the officer being in top of the hood would appear, especially if the video supports the fact that the vehicle accelerated once the officer was struck as has been reported.

 

The only way a civil case can win that I see is if the video shows the officer went out of his way to jump on the Veh and just started firing as if he already was looking to shoot prior to being on the good and I doubt thy was the case.

Well I read somewhere that witnesses said he jumped onto the car... Whole thing is very blurry, really need to see the cruiser cam.

I don't think you realize how fast this stuff happens. In high stress situations like this many things happen. You have auditory exclusion, tunnel vision, loss of fine motor skills. It's really bizarre. I think only 4 rounds fired shows he wasn't trying to "kill". He's got 16 rounds in that gun and popping off all 16 is very easy to do in just a matter of seconds.

That is true the one thing that would have done him in is a mag dump. How many other people were in the car? Thank God no one else was hit. Maybe 4 was precise?

Knowing him so well, I just can't see this as the case. He's extremely squared away, masters degree etc. and very controlled. I think how quickly they made him a k9 officer at a top notch agency like Boone shows how highly they think of him. They don't just give those $20k dogs to anyone.

The girl definitely had to see the officer tell her to stop because as he put his hand on the cr telling her to stop she did for a split second and then sped up. The dash cam did not have mingle showing how he ended up on the hood.

 

Now the part thy doesn't look good for the officer is he was clearly on the side of the car as they went out of camera view.

 

With that said the only way I could imagine him ending on the hood was 1. She was driving past a car in the other lane which forced the officer into the other vehicle and to keep from getting run over he jumped on the good so he wouldn't be smashed between the two vehicles. Or he jumped on the vehicle from the side which tells me he purposely did it and was not in danger of being run over as if he was in front of the Veh.

If he was on the side of the car and jumped on the hood, that would completely change my perspective, unless it was as you said and another car was coming from where he was...

He was responding to a different call and encountered a drunk man on foot who led him to the party. Other officers were en route to the location when this happened.

I would have to know if there was a car in the other lane which would have forced him onto the hood of her car.

 

Only thing certain from the video is the deputy was on the side of the car, not front of it in the video and secondly is that the victim clearly disobeyed a lawful Order to stop.

 

In the end it is a tragic incident that could have been avoided.

Did you see the video on WCPO? I turned it on at 5:02 and don't think it's been shown since then (unless I was daydreaming and missed it completely).

Video on now. As HB said, it appears clear that he was on the side of the car when he goes off screen. An unfortunate situation. Knowing what happened off screen to determine if it was excessive.

That doesn't sound good for the officer involved, although as you said, without knowing what happened off camera, it's hard to say one way or the other.
