A good lawyer will have a field day with this case. The officer didn't attempt to stop her till she was already entering the roadway, it would be reasonable to claim that she was just attempting to get in a safer spot before stopping. Also the officer had no reason to place himself in harms way, no one appeared to be danger and no known crime had been committed. Quite simply the cop should have stepped back took the plate number and called it in... All people live, and and the teens learn a valuable lesson.

 

 

 

Safer spot? Wasn't his cruiser blocking the lane she was in? How do you know no crime had been committed? How do you know he had no reason to place himself in harms way? He was at the side of the car at one point, but we don't know what happened in the 40+ seconds off camera.

 

How do you know everyone lives if he lets her go? What if she's drunk/high?

Ch 5 on their FB page just put a link up for the video. They also in that page have the unedited raw dash cam video with no sound but it does shine a better light on what occurred.

 

The news should be ashamed on how they showed their edited version on their telecast.

 

They made it look as if as soon as the Veh was out of the camera view the officer fired the shots. That isn't what happened at all. There was a good 40 secs that passed before the vehicle came to a stop. There was apparently a lot more that occurred than the news showed which is a shame.

 

They did the officer no favors.

I still don't think the full or short video is good for the officer, I think the witnesses who testify may write the book on any criminal or civil charges.

Their reaction means absolutely nothing IMO. Anyone would be upset knowing that someone just got shot...they're not hardened criminals or combat veterans.

here is another problem I have with the editing. The car that is in the video with the guy in it reacting to what happened, well in the news edited version it looks as if he is right behind the girl. As soon as she is out of camera view you see him there watching.

 

In reality in the unedited version he doesn't pull up until 10 secs after the girl pulls off. Not only that but you see a guy walk up to his car and talks to him as if nothing is wrong. He then walks away and a few secs later you see the guy in the car start to react to what he sees.

Agreed that it is a poor editing job by the news. I still don't understand if there is or isn't audio of the incident. It seemed like there was from the news video. If there is it should clear the officer if he didn't do anything wrong.

The length of time they are off the screen till people reacting is on his side as well. Tells me he likely was trying his best to give her an out. I wonder if the audio is being saved till its presented to the grand jury

Depending on how far down the road they were you may not be able to hear anything anyway.

The news wanted to paint Tyler as a villain and they succeeded. He's so by the book.
