Question for you NKY folks

Speaking of injunctive relief, it seems like several years ago a girls basketball player was ejected from a game and got an injunction allowing her to play in a District or Regional game without having to sit out. Anyone remember that and who it was?

Desmond - NCC

This is going back a ways.

Well, enlighten the rest of us, Horshack...

If it was the same situation as he speaks then I am going to have to say that a certain retired High School coach of 47+ years was on the KHSAA BOC at the time. And the school that he represented just so happen the Female Basketball player also attended. I'm going with Stephanie Desmond of NCC. She was ejected during a very important part of the Regional Tourney for punching another player and mysteriously found herself back on the court the very next game. Am I right JOAT? What are you implying JOAT? That the rules were twisted by a board member to allow the "Home School" player to participate!

You beat me to it.....

Wow.....

We need to get back to the topic at hand! All school get transfers.....

Well, enlighten the rest of us, Horshack...

No need to call me names! LOL....

For the record, Bob Cowie lived in Ft Thomas from at least his Freshman year on. Daisy Lane product. Can't argue the rest other than Sudtkamp. He lived one house past the City limits. Went to Bellevue his Freshman year and sat out his Soph year becasue of transfer. You forgot about Jeff Kremer, he lived a couple houses outside the City Limits as well. All the others were legit transfers I guess. They all started HHS their Freshman years. Oh yeah, you also forgot about Steve & Barry Beagle. There are plenty more.......

Great call on the Beagle brothers! One of the famous quotes by the legendary coach Owen Hauck after Steve Beagle picked up a fumble and ran it back for the winning touchdown, "I am not going to get beat by my own players". This caused a 20 year freeze on Boone/Highlands playing every year.

Just a thought, I have always High School was about getting an education to prepare you for the REAL WORLD,,Simply put, if you do not attend your own school district you do not play sports. If both parents relocate, then ok to play..

If you were there at that game you would have known that a player was inserted into the game to basically attack Desmond and landed several blows (action was away from the ball) before the refs or coaches or other players could get to fracas. The refs ejected both players as all they could see was two players grappling on the floor. In my opinion, not only should have the injunction been granted, but the opposing Coach who inserted the player (who was not a starter or top sub) should have been suspended for the next season.

What about the kids that have parents that live in different school districts from each other? Not everyone grows up with mom and dad under the same roof.

Are you bothered by them being able to go to court to get an injunction? Should the KHSAA's ruling always stand?

I think they should stand when the said school becomes a member school and agrees with all of their by-laws. Schools seem to join and want to use the courts when the ball doesn't bounce their way. Alot like society and parents these days. Sad.

Loop hole that gets abused.

I agree with this post.

In the end there really isn't a difference whether a kid moves 800 miles or 18 miles. They still are changing schools for the same reason.

People already know how i feel about the Cordia situation, but to try and make NCC transfers and Cordia transfers as totally different, well they aren't. Moving 800 miles or 18 miles....in the end the transfers probably happened because of athletics period.

They are different because the KHSAA, the body assigned the task of determining whether transfer are within the rules, deemed NCC's transfer perfectly legal and the ones at Cordia NOT. That is a big difference.

I could see that happening, but it would still be ashame if kids were not aloud to play because 1 parent not wanting to move to a different school district.

I completely agree and this is an example of how a rule intended for good can get turned on the KHSAA and their hands are tied.

Just tossing this out. Could you imagine how good Walton would be this year with the McNeil brothers and Moeves Brothers still there?

They had a pretty darn good team before those kids left.

Throw in the Burns kid who is at Brossart and another kid who I think transferred to Gallatin Co who was a nice Power Forward. Potential 8th Region champs for sure.
