A lot of transfers don't even have to move. These guys moved 800 miles. And from what I was told, without their parents? Is that true? Again, may just be rumor, but so far everything I'm hearing has been confirmed or very close to the truth.

DJ Townsend moved to Rowan to play for Coach Thacker, why couldn't these kids want to play for Rhodes? I have no idea what their situation is, just it seems to happen all of the time and no one seems to care.

Back to the thread topic. Yes, NCC has transfers. Both Moeves brothers. Nothing wrong with it except for the fact that it likely was to achieve success in athletics. As far as for a better education, well that's debatable as WV normally ranks very high academically throughout the state.

 

However, you cant rule out there could have been personal reasons as well that We are not privy to nor is it any of our business. If anybody has a kid playing hoops out there and they are Looking for a good school with good Athletic program, well you are likely more than welcome to enroll at NCC just as you are any other private school.

I don't understand why this topic continues to come up. People choose to transfer their kids. Most of the time they are ruled eligible.

Is it always fair? Probably not. Guess what? Life is not fair. The sooner you learn that and teach your kids that, the happier you will be.

 

Just let it go. Tell your kids to get out there, play hard and enjoy the high school experience. And in the meantime, tell your kids to study, study, study, like there is no tomorrow. Because at the end of the day, academics is the only sure thing.

I agree and that's why NCC's transfers are completely different than kids showing up from NYC. And for those that say this happens all the time, I do think its garbage everytime there aren't legitimate reasons others than for acedemics. This one just stretches it out of control and its going to keep getting worse. Either allow everyone to do whatever they want or control it. I would be fine either way. But I have no tolerance for people stretching the rules to gain athletic success. Maybe there is more to this story, but if it was so legit, you'd think we'd know why by now. All we've gotten so far are maybe, probably, I think and what if. No one seems to know why and that sure adds suspicion. I thought for sure someone would have provided a legit reason and noone can seem to produce one.

 

It all goes away if they do. No heckling at the tournament, probably deemed legal by KHSAA and forum talk moves to a different topic. But no one has a reason that convinces anyone differently...other than it happens all the time. Well when it happens like this, no many how many example you have for me, it's all garbage. Right! They sewed KHSAA to be able to get an injunction that delays the Appeal and allows them to play in the meantime. Didn't sound from Mr Tacketts' statement that KHSAA was too happy about it!

But couldn't these players be transferring to Cordia for the same reasons a player might transfer to NCC, Scott Co., Bowling Green, etc? Does this make them legal? What makes them illegal? the distance they traveled? What if a kid that plays football in NYC transfers to Trinity for the same reasons one might transfer to NCC, Scott Co., Bowling Green. Does that change anything? What if its Fulton County?

Recently Morgan County has had some fun long distance transfers. One could ask the question how Serbia and Puerto Rico picked West Liberty. Was it pin the tail on the donkey style? A dart and a map?

 

IMO, something's got to give with the transfer deal. I don't have an answer other than to let kids have a one time transfer after their clock starts, after that, high scrutiny under bylaw 6 before any transfer would be granted. The scrutiny now under the exceptions of bylaw 6 is arbitrary, unevenly enforced, and random.

Has their family relocated and now lives and works in the Knott County area. Have they bought a house or rented in the area or do they live in school provided housing? I don't know the answers to these questions but it surely hasn't been stated that this is the case. How many students have decided to uproot from around the country and move to Cordia in the last 2 years? And all of this without recruiting? That's the big difference. You're not permitted to recruit players to come to your school. Transfers happen for various reasons that are all valid. Recruiting is not permitted per the KHSAA. If you want to be a "prep school" then go that route.

And you seem to think you know a lot, but miss major details that are given in some of the articles, like the fact that the kids moved with their Dads.

 

Delete "may just be a rumor", and change the last sentence to "what I've heard don't match the details reported by the major papers" and you may be onto something though.
