Yes it is. A microphone was stuck in front of the face of a man who will speak his mind with no fear. Seems similar to me.

That's a horrible example. No way Phil could have made that play.

Big difference is Phil is total class.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

This would be funny if you weren't 100% serious...

That's what you'll remember him for, and based on most of your posts, that doesn't really surprise me.

Football fans as a whole won't recall this incident ever happened.

Really? You've already been proven wrong unless you are saying everyone on BGP aren't football fans because there are already 2 threads on the subject which already proved you wrong.

Huh? I said 25 years from now genius. Of course people are talking about it today. It happened less than 24 hours ago. :ohbrother:

And yet Muhammad Ali is considered by everyone as one of the greatest sports figures and icons in the history of sports. Sherman will be remembered for his play. Everything else will be an afterthought.
Difference in your analogy is boxing isn't a team sport, Ali running his mouth doesn't possibly affect anyone but Ali. Guys like Sherman or Crabtree can have a negative affect on their team.

Probably not the type of image that the NFL and Goodell are trying to project, nor the Seahawks. Muhammad Ali said he was the greatest and in large measure, he backed that up. Sherman said he is the best QB--maybe he can back it up, but I doubt if he is any Ali. Rather, he seems to be just another boorish loudmouth.

Get back to me in 25 years then and ask me if I remember anything about Sherman in the NFCCG'S in 2014.

Someone on ESPN said it best. There is nothing worse than a sore winner. And that is how Sherman came off yesterday.

He did come off that way. Very unprofessional.
They're not professionals' date=' they are athletes.[/quote']

Well technically they are professional athletes.

They're not professionals, they are athletes.

They are professional athletes. To lump Sherman's behavior with that of other athletes is a gross over simplification and does a disservice to pro athletes that do not exude this type of behavior, IMO.

My 2 cents for what they are worth. Sherman is the best cb at this moment. He and the lb both made great football plays. He then sounded off after that. Selfish, classless or just adrenaline in the heat of the moment. Does it really matter? I would be willing to bet that his teammates are ok with him being a little over the top. Personally i do not know Richard Sherman so i would have to hold off on judging whether or not he is a punk, thug or any other terms used until i have met him. I have been around several good athletes(none at this level though, one being my son) and have witnessed them acting or reacting in a manner that would by some opinions on here make them a thug and classless, but with knowing them as well as i do that would be the furtherest thing from the truth.

I have no problem with how Sherman acted.

1. He backed up his talk with his play on the field. It was a good play by him to tip that throw.

2. He said he was the #1 CB in the NFL......Is he not? thought so!

3. IMO Crabtree has been a mediocre WR thus far, some due to injury but still.

4. He's pumped about tipping a potential TD that would have sent his team home instead of to the Super Bowl...Is that so wrong?
