February 2, 201412 yr Presently in the northwest part of England on the coast of the Irish Sea on holiday visiting friends who are locals 30 years removed from their Midlands home town of Nottingham, but now living in Heysham, near Lancaster. We are celebrating their upcoming two February birthdays along with a late Christmas. Sitting here now listening to beautiful Christmas music with a full belly after having just enjoyed a lovely traditional British Christmas Dinner of Roasted Turkey Breast with Gravy, Marvelous Oven Roasted Potatoes (the best I've ever had), Steamed Carrots, Bread Sauce, Sage and Onion Stuffing, Steamed Brussel Sprouts, Oven Baked Pigs in Blankets along with Sparkling White Wine, and the after dinner tradition of pulling our Christmas Crackers, which pop when pulling from a touch of gun powder, while inside you'll find a small keepsake (mine was a miniature deck of playing cards in a little box, a written joke, and appropriately a gold king's crown). Our dinner view from the picture window are the distant hills in the Lake District of Lake Windermere while the seagulls are fluttering about the rooftops. It's presently late afternoon now and we've just popped a 10 year old bottle of lovely tawny port, a fine tradition after such a lovely Sunday Roast. Eat you hearts out suckas! The only downside to all of this that I can see is missing the Feb. 14th doubleheader at the BOK.
February 12, 201412 yr I made stir-fry. First time I've cooked in a month of Sundays. Round steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, bok choy, broccoli, etc. over brown rice.
February 12, 201412 yr Took a couple of frozen chicken breasts, put them in the crock pot, covered them with cream of mushroom soup can of water mix, sprinkled the concoction with a package of ranch dressing mix, and let them cook all day. Mrs. S made some potato wedges and broccoli.
February 13, 201412 yr Been on a asparagus kick for me, and to my knowledge its pretty healthy for ya, right? And no I don't cook it with butter or any oil really either. Actually just put a little steak seasoning on it. Went with asparagus, cut up potato and some honey baked ham that was in the freezer.
