No suprise in this one, well done Desales! Nice effort by NCC, I figured it would be much worse

Congrats to DeSales; sounds like it was a very entertaining game!

When I heard early in the season that the Colts beat John Hardin, I knew that DeSales was a state champ caliber team. Great effort by the super folks at NCC, but the Colts just weren't going to be derailed. Congratulations for bringing a state championship back to Louisville!

This was the best TEAM that I have seen NewCath play in a final. Very proud that NewCath scratched back after the tough end of the first half and start of the second.

Desales defense stopping NCC on the last drive of the first half and the opening drive of the second half deep in their own territory up 21-13 was huge. If NCC scores once there it is a whole new ballgame, if they score twice they may have pulled out a win ......but stop them twice and that's what a State Champion does. Also #41 recovering the onsides kick with 2 minutes left was big. No one else but NCC players were around and he made the play.

 

NCC team achieved about all that they could with only 12 Seniors which was less Seniors than any other team they met in the playoffs. Desales team reminded me of Danville team that NCC had the miracle comeback to beat in 2006. Just too many weapons to stop on offense. NCC could only take away some of the matchup advantages that the Desales offense had.

Way to go Colts!

I bet if you stated that Desales would be the only team from Louisville to bring home a state championship this year you would have had VERY few takers.

Congratulations to the Colts on their first title and to the Breds on their season. Many expected Desales to win it all which was done and the Breds showed they were a very good team coming up just short; they will undoubtedly be back. Congratulations again to both teams.

I'm told Jack Sutkamp ended the day with a total of 14 tackles, giving him 209 for the season, thus he is now the NewCath single season record holder surpassing Steve Smith's 1995 total of 206.
