Guru earlier this year you gave a poster a blank check when he alleged wrongdoing by another program and he couldn't cash that check. Yes, it's going to get very ugly! The innocent ones I mentioned being the kids who were led to believe it was ok. Someone mentioned earlier about 5th year players. As a long time Central Ky football follower, Bobby Lefew was granted a 5th year due to a medical reason. However, he not graduated, nor was he ineligible. This case is much more tgen that. Ram is right it has been known by a few fir 2 years now. Also surprising is who knew and stood up for the guilty.

There were / are several W.VA and Ohio kids that have been playing there for years all the way back to when they brought in Chris Jennings around 2002,03 or around that time. My opinion is that if true justice was served they would go back tru every year that they had these kids and forfeit any games they played in. JMO

 

In a nut shell Fairview knowingly played a kid who was repeating a grade last year and plaicebergyed the same kid this year as a 5th year student, both are violations. It's just the tip of the .

YEP...A very small tip if they get all of whats been going on.

 

You know I have heard several times that people feel sorry for the innocent people, and I'm sure there are one or two, but to be honest I don't feel sorry for anyone. If they were innocent or caught up in something this bad and didn't like it why didn't they report it? It didn't seem that anyone was upset when terrible things were said to fans of other teams, no one apologized for the behavior. It didn't seem that anyone felt bad when signs with distasteful things were hung at football games, some with just terrible things written on them. Or, how about all the terrible texts, instant messages, and Facebook comments that were sent to players from other schools by multiple players at Fairview. It didn't seem that any fans were upset to win games by breaking rules, in fact, some even boasted about it.

 

And, when some said wrong things were being done, it didn't seem that anyone was innocent in berating them and acting as if the person making the accusations was wrong and had ulterior motives for making the correct claim.

 

The only people that I feel sorry for are the players from the other schools that had to endure these acts.

:thumb::thumb: On ALL that you have said. I feel for the kids that grew up in that community and were pushed aside for out/state players , and all the time Adults, Coaches, Administration boasting about it.

:thumb: I have no love lost for Fairview, that's saying it mild but I Absolutely know some good people out there, from Westwood and were friends back in the day when I was at Raceland in the 70's. Ram is right, I know of some people / parents of kids in that school system that were appauled by what all was happening in "the wood :rolleyes:"... Trust me I know of a lot that may or may not be mentioned bc I have heard it from very reliable people. All started back in 2002,03 or so when they brought in Chris Jennings, excellent ball player (went to NFL) and from what I hear was a good kid , man now. These kids were basically imo used as pawns to give Fairview a winning football team and make a name for the coaches. I, as Ram and others feel for the kids that got pushed to the side for the all stars. They have lived in the district since they were little, their parents pay school taxes there and all to see, witness all that has been happening for years in Westwood.

 

I am with Ram on this. If it was that blatant in a small school, there is no way it wasn't common knowledge and that makes everyone an accomplice IMO. The only way I call someone at Fairview innocent is if they had no idea these things were happening. I don't think that is possible.

I could go on but I had better not, what all that i have said has been common knowledge for years. Trust I don't know what all is involved or if there is still an investigation on going so I will just say that 'The tip of the iceberg is a vast undersytatejent. Much more is there.

All of this for wins and glory. Remember, HS football is about fun, memories and at the end of the day, a fun competition. It is just a game. A game I love dearly but not to win at all costs. I feel some vindication because I can't stand cheating but a bigger part of me is sad. Sad because this puts a black eye on our district and on the sport. I hope there is public acknowledgement and apology coming from the ones guilty. I hope they don't hide behind excuses and blame others. Be men and own up to your mistakes.

I can't think of the last time I've heard of a kid playing an extra year.

 

As justme2012 said, Bobby Leffew is the only one I can think of. Bobby was severely injured his Senior year in 1998 and missed the season. He petitioned for another year because of family need and opportunity for scholarship. He did not graduate on time because of the injury if I recall and the KHSAA granted him that chance.

 

Worked well for the Rebels who won their first state title that year in '99.

 

Worked even better for Bobby as Louisville came calling and he started all four years for the Cards and received his education there. (Once again, if memory serves, UK pulled themselves out of the recruiting process when he was injured but L'ville did not. That stuck with his family and brother Travis followed him to UL and likewise started all 4 years on the O Line.)

No, I remember that. Kim Warfield at Conner got a 5th as well.
